Folder vs. Video (Homevideo & Photos type library)

All my “Homevideo & Photos” type librarys always show up in Video view. I need manually switch to Folder view all the time. I want them to show up in folder view automatically.

I don’t remember to have this issue earlier, so I suspect it is a new “feature” in one of the recent Emby Sever updates.

Unfortunately, other than “Movie” type library it cannot be configured in the user settings under “Home Screen”.

Any other way to configure the server to do that – or the client (Browser on PC / Android Emby app) to store and recall the view that have been chosen last time?

This is a really annoying new "feature"... I thought you stopped introducing new "features" without a way to change it in configuration? Please fix ASAP!

Yeah, I speculate it is a regression what the dev's should fix asap. Would be a nice Christmas present

I just came to the forum to report this as a bug. this behaviour has changed with the update to 4.5.4.0. navigating home movie/photo libraries always used to display in "folders" view. since the update, they now open in "videos" view, and I have to click an option to change it to "folders". then if I navigate out of that library, and open it a second time, it forgets what I chose last time and again it opens in "videos" and again I have to click to change it to "folders"

I'm not sure what has changed to cause this (did we even have the option to change views before? I'm not sure) but now I'm constantly having to click on something to make it display the way it always used to, when it used to be smooth and seamless, so this isn't ideal. as soon as I get a chance I'll be restoring an older version from a backup, and blocking future updates, until this is improved. if this is a new feature - being able to change views in home movie libraries - can we please have a way to make our choice persist, or at least have a default setting, so we're not having to click on an option all the time? and if this feature has always been there, well, something has changed with it, and now it's not great

With additional tabs being added to content types, every content type library needs a Landing/Default screen option on Home Screen settings.

+1 to get this resolved. I have Photos sorted in folders by year and cannot default to the folder view at all in Emby Theater. Net result is no photos viewable any more on my media Server using Emby Theater as its front end!!

Hi, what do you mean by no photos viewable? You can still get to the folders tab, right?

Running emby theater on my mediacenter along with EMBY Server on the same machine. I use an MCE Remote to access and navigate Emby Theater. With my photos in their own library, I cannot navigate at all with my MCE Remote to change to a folder view. If I run Emby Theater on my laptop and connect to the Emby server, I can navigate to photos in folder view using my mouse.

The problem with my Emby Theater Server interface using MCE remote is that there is no option to configure Folders as the default view. If this was an option, I'm sure I would then be able to navigate the folders with my MCE remote. This problem was introduced with the latest version of Emby Server.

Normally an Emby server update is prevented as I turn off auto server updates. I missed this last time. I do get VERY tired of my auto server update being re-enabled after every server update.

My EMBY Theater just updated to 3.0.13. I now have no 'Folder View' option for my TV Series. It shows all TV shows. This happens on ET installed on my Media center and my Laptop. Server version is 4.5.4.0 and Folders view is selected as default on the server. Folder view is still working in ET for my movies, music albums etc. Folders view works normally using a browser, so this seems to be an ET 3.0.13  specific issue.
