Emby Server not recognizing games

I upgraded to the newest Emby Server (4.5.3.0) from an pretty old version 3.6.X.X (don't rember the exact version), anyways I had also upgraded Windows versions as well from 1709 to 20H2, so not sure if that makes a difference at all.  But now it doesn't seem to recognize my PC Games as actual games and sticks them as Folders instead (see pic below).  It does seem to recognize that the top level folder should was specified as Games as it shows (Systems, Games, Genres, Folders), but all items are just folders.

I didn't see any errors in the server logs and tried removing the Library completely an re-adding it but monitoring the logs when the Library was added again it looks like it was just adding folder again:

I'm wondering maybe the game.XML has changed between 3.6 -> 4.5 and maybe I need something else in the XML files so that it properly identifies it as game.  This is what I have which seems to work on 3.6 and below:

  <Overview>All Zombies Must Die! is the spiritual successor to Burn Zombie Burn. It is a twin stick shooter that takes place in a town known as Deadhill, which has been overrun by a horde of zombies. The player takes on the role of a resident of Deadhill, and is free to traverse the town killing zombies at will, but in order to gain access to other sections of the town, the player must complete tasks given by the towns robotic gatekeepers who control access to them. These tasks include things like kill X amount of zombies to earning a specific item. There is also an RPG element to the game that allows players to craft there own weapons as well as level them up. Multiplayer is supported through a four-player offline co-op mode.</Overview>

Hi, please run a scan and then attach the emby server log. Thanks.

Sure log attached, looks like scan started at line 383 of log... (Worth noting its now up to Emby 4.5.4.0)

I was able to rule out the Windows update, as I simply restored ran a backup version of Emby (although 3.4.1) and without changing anything it as no problems recognizing them as games, so maybe its something new in the database or some option I have turned on in the new server.

I think the issue is your folder structure. games require \\games\game system\game

Ok, so two steps forward, one step back...

So I did as you suggested, adding an additional layer to my games structure for the platform, and after I updated the Gamebrowser plugin to point an additional layer deeper as well, after which I ran a a Library Scan.

This resolved the issue of Emby Server not recognizing the items as games, what's weird now is what I'm seeing on the client side now (EMC)...

Basically I have my top level Root Items when selecting Games it brings me to what I would expect now a Windows folder which does have the proper type of GamePlatform, however entering this folder shows all my games as type Folder, if I were to enter one of these Folders then I have one item in it which is of type GameItem, after which its correct. Just to summarize in case its not clear its:

UserView -> GamePlatform -> Folder -> GameItem

So not quite sure why I have an additional Folder level but I could easily turn the auto enter single folders option in EMC to work around this...  However whats very odd is when I enter the folder the artwork (poster, logo, backdrop,etc...) doesn't match the game or "Folder"m it seems to be a random one from one of my other games (changes every time I go into EMC).  All other metadata info however is correct, name, overview, production, year etc... It will even launch the correct game just the images are wrong (poster, logo, backdrop, etc...).

Very very odd...

The problem is that EMC only supports plain folder browsing, so that's why you get that extra layer.
