LSYRUR 1 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hello. I am using Emby in Chinese and have some problems. I have some anime on my nas and since the structure is sometimes a little complex, I tend to mannually organize them. This is one of my collection. the three Chinese folders mean "Season 1", "Season 2", "Season 3", which is more suitable for me. It worked fine on Jellyfin. Jellyfin could recognize the whole folder as a tv show, and I can mannually set the season number to have the right order. however, Emby could only show the three folders as three TV shows, and I don't know how to change it. I can browse the databse as folders instead, but it seems not perfect. (on Jellyfin) (On Emby) does anyone know how could I make it show as a TV show? Do I have to change the folder name to something like Season 1, 2, 3?

Luke 42081 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi, what part of those three folder names means season? Can you please type that out? Thanks.
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Hi Luke, thank you for replying. Specifically, "第二季" means "Season 2"."第一季" means "Season 1", "第三季" means "Season 3". The order is uncorrect, because windows is sorting them by pronunciation. Sometimes the folder names are more complex than that, since animes like to name the seasons by subtitles.I also like to put them in the same folder, showing them as seasons, but name them as their subtitles, like showed below, so I am here to find out if their is a way.
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Hello Happy2Play, for the tv show I posted on my main post, it's from 001-140. I divided it into 3 seasons because it's more easy to find the episode when needed. for the other tv show I posted, it's just 01-13 in every folder.

LSYRUR 1 Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hi Luke. Sorry I still don't know how to "reply" you. I'll use another maybe more familiar example to make it more clear. let's just say I have a collection of Star War. I am trying to find a way to mannually show them as a whole tv show, and instead of showing the movie names as Episode 1, 2, I want them showed as New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, etc.

A work around of having multiple copies of the media is make a strm file with the local path to the media in that file.
Luke 42081 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 What part of the season folder name just means season?
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hi Luke. None of it. I see. It's not really possible in emby to recognize seasons manually without the naming rule. The possible way is to rename the folders as "S01 XXXA", "S02 XXXB". Am I right?

"第一季" means "Season 1"=Season one "第二季" means "Season 2"=second season "第三季" means "Season 3"=third episode What does Emby show in the ui in the season metadata? Edit metadata as season level.
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hi Happy2Play. the translation is right exactly. when I tried editing the metadata it only show the items the same as a TV show, not showing season number for me to edit. I am discussing if there is a way to manually control it without the naming rule, not intended to giving any adive to make emby more chinese-friendly. it's a bit troublesome, and doesn't provide obvious conveniency.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 So you are saying the wrong folder level is being detected as the series. Can you go over specific structure. But attempting to create folder structure from info provided I get season level displayed as different series.
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hello Happy2Play, Yes. My seasons are displayed as series. I wonder if there is a way to force emby detect all first level folders as series, second level folders as seasons.

But I would assume a translations issue here.
LSYRUR 1 Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Hello Happy2Play, thank you. maybe obeying the naming rule is still the best solution for me. I can change the name in the software anyway.
