Ebook library best practices guide?

I see that my newly minted Emby server has ebook support. I loaded up a library and it recognized a pretty unimpressive number of books.  Some of them should be easy/obvious (a file named Slaughterhouse Five.epub should be easy to tag right?)

Do  need to be doing anything special to make this functionality work?

Use another app for ebooks or audiobooks. Emby does not do those particularly well and other apps are much better.
Just because Emby can do ebooks does not mean it should.

Yeah I agree here, I'm using Calibre and it works fine but I want to try another one, any recommendations?

Try audiobookshelf, it think is also supports books.
