How to update Emby from version 4.5.2.0 to version 4.5.3.0 ?

Hello,

I have Emby in version 4.5.2.0_x86_64 on my TS-453D.

I would like to update to version 4.5.3.0_x86_64 and for that if I understood correctly, I must download the new version from the Emby site and install it manually from the app center of my NAS .
But when I launch the operation, QNAP stays for a long minute with the message: "Downloading and processing in progress", nothing happens and ends up showing me the message: "Unable to share the package. details, view the system event log.
-emby-server-qnap_4.5.3.0_x86_64.qpkg "

But I don't see any indication in the event log.

Do you know where the problem may come from and how to fix it ?

Thank you for your help !

you have to manually d/l it yourself and manually add it via the app centre

nothing is automatic on the qnap

This is what I understood, but it does not work.
Here is the screenshot of what I'm doing and the error

it looks to me that the NAS is not getting the file from the machine you have d/l to

did you do a manual install of 4.5.0.2?

I do not understand your question.

For me there is no other way than manual installation.

Is there an installation guide for Emby updates on QNAP?

You simply install the new version over the top using the qnap web interface.

I don't understand your comments.

This is exactly what I do. In the qnap store, I click on manual installation, I click on find the installation file, which I previously downloaded from the Emby website and I click on OK to start the installation.

But it doesn't work.

What is the translation of the error message you receive?

you have shut down and stopped emby (in the app store) before you try and update

That's what I'm telling you.

This is what I do and it does not work.

The message is "Unable to share package. For details see the system event log."

But this one does not mention any event relating to Emby, except his stop which I made before starting the update.

I just tried again using the following steps :
1) Download of the file "emby-server-qnap_4.5.3.0_x86_64.qpkg", corresponding to the "Intel / AMD 64 bits" package from the following address: https://emby.media/qnap-server.html for my TS453d

2) Restart my QNAP TS453d NAS (as for a new Firmware installation), just in case ...

3) Turn off Emby using QNAP web interface

4) Install Emby Server using QNAP web interface, by selecting the file "emby-server-qnap_4.5.3.0_x86_64.qpkg" previously downloaded on my PC

But after having clicked on "Install", I have the following message: "Downloading and installation in progress ..." for long minutes, then either the server disconnects me (too long inactivity), or I have the message " Unable to share package. For details see the system event log. "

I have the impression that the installation file is not sent to the NAS. That the NAS does not retrieve the file from my Windows desktop.

What do you think ?

Have I forgotten something ?

Do I have to allow the installation of third-party programs somewhere ?

Thank you for your help

you missed one step - you need to also stop emby in the app centre

what qnap firmware are you on?

and have you enabled the option to load unsigned apps?

what browser are you using?

disable ALL browser plugins

and reopen the browser and start again

also if that does not work turn off your AV software

No, I did not forget to stop Emby, I indicated it in step 3

I have the last firmware.

Yes I have enabled this option.

I tried with chrome and chromium edge.
I have no plugin on both browsers

🙁

I tried again, but with version 4.5.4.0 and I still have the same problem:
I stop Emby from the qnap store, then:
1) I click on install manually
2) I browse the disk of my PC to retrieve the installation file, previously downloaded
3) The installation file appears in the area
4) I click on install and I am asked to confirm the manual installation
5) installation is in progress
Chrome shows me loading at the bottom of the screen, but remains at 0%
6) after a few seconds, a message displays the error: " Unable to share package. For details see the system event log. "

What can prevent the installation or loading of the installation file?

Thank you

After you downloaded the file onto your QNAP, how big was it?

I did not upload the file to the qnap.
I downloaded the installation file to my PC. Then I selected it from QNAP STORE by exploring the file on my computer desktop.
Then I clicked install, and that's where Chrome tells me 0% download.

Am I supposed to find the file somewhere on the NAS to check the size, if that's what you're asking me?

that looks like a local pc problem and not anything on the NAS or emby

try a different browser and disable any plugins you have as i suspect its a plugin in the browser thats causing the issue
