maxim 0 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I have problems recording some of my kids show. Emby only record one episode and ignore the others even if I see a red record circle in the guide on the schedule show. If I delete the folder where the show is recorded, emby will record the first next show and not the others. Here's a screenshot of the show. It appears as unknown season.
maxim 0 Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) Hi, some episode without the episode and season number I want to record have the same broadcasting dates even if it's not the same episode. So emby don't record it even if the settings are set to record all episodes. Is there a way to resolve this problem? The first episode record but not the others Edited December 10, 2020 by maxim Missing something
Luke 42080 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Hi there, can you please go over an example in detail? Thanks.
maxim 0 Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 I try to record my kids show "les frères kratt" Only one has record and not the other. I see on the planning it is supposed to be record but it doesn't. They all have the same broadcast date Here's some pics
Luke 42080 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Hi there, can you please go over an example of what wasn't recorded? Please also show us how the series recording is configured. Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Hi, I think this is likely is caused because the season/episode info is missing in the guide data shown above. Do each of the episodes have a distinct title?
maxim 0 Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 I think I found where the problem is. It's in the conversion. The episode is well recorded but when it convert it. It seems to delete it instead of convert it.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 That's strange. What settings do you have setup for the conversion?
maxim 0 Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 The episode always have the same name. All record episode are named "les frères kratt 2010-12-31" it's automatically convert to mkv. When the next episode is recorded it has the same name but in ts file. When the conversion start, the episode is deleted. Only have this problem with show without episode or season number.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 That makes sense. The EPG is essentially telling Emby it's the same episode. Short of you renaming before the next episode, I'm not sure how we could handle that better.
maxim 0 Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 In my settings, I want to record all episodes even if it's the same. It should keep all episodes no? If I make no conversion it will add "-1" at the end of the file. The conversion should do that too
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I understand what you want to do, but there isn't currently a mechanism to do that as the files will have the same name.
maxim 0 Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 When the recording start, if another ts file as the same name it will add -1 to the filename could you compare if an mkv files has the same name add -1 too so when it will convert. They won't have the same name.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 You'll be able to handle these different in the future manually but anything without proper Guide data will always be a bit problematic as there will not be proper info for it in the Emby database. I don't see us making any changes to current functionality with the new Live TV release getting closer.
Luke 42080 Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 @maxim are you still running into this? Can you please attach the emby server log from when it was supposed to record? Thanks !
maxim 0 Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 I'm presently running a task every day on my PC to move the file recorded to another location with a new name and it solved my problem.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Because otherwise his process of involving conversion overwrites the file.
Luke 42080 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Just pick the appropriate option when using the convert feature. It's right in the dialog, you get to pick whether the original files are replaced or not.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 You're missing what's going on. Emby records first show of the day. It converts to MKV. Emby records 2nd show of day with same name as first time. Emby Converts it overwriting the first MKV. This is a problem with shows missing season/episode info as you get a filename based on series name and date but that's not enough for series that are broadcast multiple times a day. Emby will never record the 2nd episode because it thinks it's already there, but it's not. That's when you have to resort to what the op is doing.
