dimitrik 14 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Ever since I upgraded to the 4.5 branch of the server (running on windows 10) I have noticed my WMC clients take a very long time (up to 10-20 mins) to load up all the libraries. I can see the libraries but when I enter them, they are empty, or I see some of the titles but not the content (i.e. I can see a TV show is there but cannot enter the folder or play the content). After a while the libraries are populated and everything works ok but responsiveness is still slugish. I originally thought it was a problem with the client but noticed that (a) the problem persists in both the beta and release clients and (b) I can duplicate the problem on two machines I have at home connected to the same server. One client is running on Windows 7 and the other is running on the same windows 10 machine as the server. The problem does not apply to other clients on the network: web client, Embu Theater (both the desktop and windows store versions), iOS, MacOS. I am weary of downgrading to 4.3 but I wanted to ask if there is a way to troubleshoot this... Any help will be appreciated!

dimitrik 14 Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Hi Luke, I removed the TuneIn plugin but the problem persists especially in the WMC client. Looking at the performance of Emby Theater, it is slow but that could be due to a large library (though I suspect others are much larger). Any other thoughts? Myu next step will be to try downgrading to 4.3 and see what happens.
dimitrik 14 Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 OK, I did some more testing and noticed that since uninstalling TuneIn, my WMC client running on the same Win10 machine as the server no longer has the problem - it's fast and responsive as it should be. The problems are in my Win7 x64 machine, which unfortunately is my main living room pc. Could the problem be a screwed up installation of the WMC client or an Operating System problem?
Luke 42085 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 It's really hard to say. One thing we know for sure is that emby for wmc is not as well optimized as the other apps. Are you running the default theme? That will at least give you the best chance.

Next month I will setup a new HTPC, with windows 8.1 or 10 and the WMC client (it remains my favorite both for simplicity and visual appeal), so we will see if the problem persists.
