timekiller 5 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I have Emby running in a docker container. I wound up having to recreate the container, but kept the app data directory, so all my libraries and settings were picked up just fine. The problem is that I want nfo files stored in the library with the videos. Since the docker recreation this is not happening. I checked the settings for my libraries, and the NFO checkbox under "Metadata savers" is checked. I thought there used to be another option to store metadata in the library, like there is for artwork and thumbnails? In any case, new files are not getting an NFO file. I checked if any NFO files were being stored in Emby's metadata/library folder and there aren't any there either. I know the new media was scanned because Emby shows the video and audio info. I also tried unchecking and rechecking the NFO box on the library, but that didn't work. How can I get Emby to create NFO files again?
ebr 16187 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi. Are you sure Emby has the permissions in the file system to write to those directories?

Luke 42083 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Please try refreshing the metadata on something. If that doesn't create an nfo, then please attach the emby server log. thanks.

I skimmed through the server log and didn't see anything, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for so maybe you'll have better luck. embyserver-63743111218.zip
Luke 42083 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 what did your refresh the metadata on? can you show a screenshot of the settings for your library?
timekiller 5 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 I believe I did refreshes on two libraries: "Categories" and "Chaturbate". Library settings attached
ebr 16187 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi. Refresh metadata on a single item and see if the NFO gets saved.

timekiller 5 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 I just did a refresh for the file "/mnt/Categories/Porn Stars/Kira Queen/abc.xyz.0d631ffcdbfb1d.mp4". I've attached the full log, but the output that was generated specifically when I hit the refresh is below: 2020-12-09 12:24:12.484 Info Server: http/1.1 POST http://10.0.22.4:8096/emby/Items/1521531/Refresh?Recursive=true&ImageRefreshMode=FullRefresh&MetadataRefreshMode=FullRefresh&ReplaceAllImages=false&ReplaceAllMetadata=true&X-Emby-Client=Emby Web&X-Emby-Device-Name=Chrome&X-Emby-Device-Id=0f85c0bc-9338-4297-9a27-492a9af2c420&X-Emby-Client-Version=4.5.2.0. timekiller 5 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 ok, I just checked and actually nfo files were generated for that folder. I'm going to test further on other libraries...
timekiller 5 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Ok, so now when I manually run metadata refresh, it's working. I'll have to see if new files automatically get an nfo. My best guess is that today when I unchecked and rechecked the nfo checkbox, that might have fixed it. Thanks for all the help guys, for now I'm considering this resolved. If automatic scanning doesn't create the nfos I'll start a new thread.
