RobNas 4 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Hi, So for some reason I always do thing backwards.... here is my dilemma. I remotely installed the EMBY server on a laptop running Windows10 with a huge external hard drive plugged in that has my "backup" of my movies and tv shows. (I was not at home at the time) I named the EMBY server but I didn't include my email address. I then installed the EMBY app on my android phone and tested it out remotely (not at home). It works great! I love that the "played" and continue watching works!! (Could never get it to work on Plex). So my next project was to install EMBY on my Asustor NAS when I got home. After struggling with the Asustor software I was able to download the apk on another laptop to my google drive, sync it, and then on the NAS I had access to the APK to do a "manual install". When setting it up it asked for the Name of this server. I again failed to type in my email address, just a name. I tested both EMBY servers out on my android phone AND on the laptop that has the EMBY server running on it. Both worked great on both devices! I could see the NAS EMBY server from the laptop and the android phone. Down the road I only want my NAS to have EMBY running so I had planned on deleting it off my laptop BUT now... I cannot sign into my NAS when I am not at home.... BUT I CAN sign into my laptop EMBY server remotely... WHY? Questions: 1) When NOT not at home. Using the EMBY app on my android phone I CAN see all of my movies/TV shows on my Laptop at home BUT cannot sign into my NAS.... any ideas why?? 2) I want to subscribe to the premium account. What would you recommend I do for what I have done? Delete both servers or just sign out and then back in using my email address? (delete it off the laptop as I do not want it running there). 3) There is conflicting stories about IOS and Xbox. Do you still have to pay for the one time $7 activation fee? Thank you very much.

ebr 16187 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Hi. Did you setup your router to allow external access to both machines? With two servers, you'd need to be using two different external ports (mapped to the proper machines). Connectivity
RobNas 4 Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 OOOOO maybe it is the port. Good call. Yes both were setup to allow external access. Do you know about the IOS and XBox $7 one time activation fee? Once I pay to be a premium subscriber do I have to pay $7 for each of those devices? I have read you still do. Thanks Chief Bottle Washer.
rbjtech 5284 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) If you let uPNP setup your external access (ie you did not do any port forwarding manually) then it will keep the original (ie the laptop) connection active until you turn off the laptop. A reboot of the Asustor NAS / Emby Application should then map to standard port correctly. As @ebr has said, currently the two servers are conflicting and trying to use the same port forward - so if you need them BOTH, then you need to select a different port on the 2nd instance - 8097 for example for HTTP. When selecting it externally - remember to use the port in the URL - ie http:\\myserver:8097 I hope this helps. re Premium - no, once you are premium, you do not need to purchase any unlocks for devices. RobNas 4 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 To be honest, I dont remember where I read that. I probably just did a google search and it was on an old post. Someone said it was Apple that was taking the $7 for their work. LOL. The GREAT news is I upgraded to Premium and installed the app on Apple products and I did not have to pay the additional $7 activation fee. Keep up the GREAT works guys! Thank you!. 1
