Want to Roll Back Server to 4.5.2

Recommended Posts

Version 4.5.3 forces one to choose between CC's or Time Shifting in LiveTV which is not desirable so I'd like to roll back until it is fixed but the installer is not on the downloads page or in the git.

Where can I get the installer for 4.5.2?

manual install for 4.5.0.2 is still there - just d/l the 7z file and replace your system folder

Found it on the git. Guess I was looking for an installer to simplify things..

So replace this

with this?

Is there anything to back up or?

There's a lot of fixes in the latest stable release but this one fixed something that just isn't an issue (for me anyhow).

Not saying it fixes it, but have you tried the latest ATV app beta release?

@ebr might have more information.

That won't make a difference.  This is a change by the server.

So sounds like the latest Stable release has broken @Sammy's setup then.

It's a server change:

  • Fix interlaced video being incorrectly stream copied with HLS

Now stream copied interlaced content is transcoded (for deinterlacing).

At least I know the development team is keen to this issue. I will roll back for now.

Not sure how this wasn't picked up in beta testing....... oh wait, we never get asked to test anything specifically 🙄

It was introduced in 4.6.0.6, for me fixed 2 problems, stream copied interlaced content failed to play in Chrome and in some 1080i Bluray rips, frames where dropped while copying an interlaced video stream. There are some posts similar to this:

So fixed for some, broke something for others.

Yes, It is clear that there are pros and cons in this decision, something that satisfies everyone should be sought.

We should have a choice to toggle what works for each of us or even better yet, code to accurately make the choice without user interaction.

But the different clients can each handle interlacing differently so one "settings" at the server won't be optimal.

It's not just the device, I have content that must be deinterlaced if stream copied in every device, otherwise frames are lost.

In fact, Apple HLS according to authoring specs:

Quote

1.14. All interlaced source content MUST be deinterlaced.

Although RFC 8216 does not say anything about it.

Have you tried that on the Shield?

Yes, before version 4.6.0.6 the exact same thing happened, no problem with direct playback but when remuxing frames were lost.

I've not experienced this on the shield.
Fixed in 4.6.0.6 or still a problem?

If still a problem, how do you reproduce it?

For me it's fixed, because since version 4.6.0.6 there no stream-copied HLS for interlaced content because it's transcoded for deinterlacing.

So I shut down Emby Server and copied the contents of server.old into server.

How to prevent it from updating to 4.5.3.0 if I need to restart my PC?
