econ 74 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 How long does Emby Connect cache the IP address of a server? Is there a way to force a refresh? Recently I changed internet providers and obviously the IP as well. None of my Emby Connect users can connect. If they navigate directly to the external IP it works fine.
Luke 42081 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Every few hours your server will update our Emby Connect server, as well as anytime the server operating system reports an address change.

So it has been approximately 48 hours since the IP change. I have also rebooted Emby server and the actual machine. The new IP is showing correctly in the dashboard. Anything else that would hang onto the old IP?
Luke 42081 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Does your server dashboard show the new remote address?

econ 74 Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) To follow up on this topic... For every user I had connecting to my sever with the Roku app they had to delete the app and reconnect using Emby Connect. The Roku app never fetched the updated IP from Emby connect no longer how long they waited. All users were able to connect fine using app.emby.media even when Roku would not connect. Carlo 4561 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Hi, Did you try to "forget" the Server entry on the Roku and setup again?
econ 74 Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 The users did not try that. However, wouldn’t that remove the server from their server list and they would need re-invited? Isn’t the point of Emby Connect that the users should have minimal intervention once it is setup on a device. If the server IP changes Emby Connect should be smart enough to fetch the new IP. Considering I had 6 users all with the same issue it seems as if it is a bug with Emby connect on Roku?

Can you tell us exactly what the users were doing when they were not able to connect?
econ 74 Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 The users would open the roku app as they normally do. It would spin for a bit attempting to connect. Then it would bring up the server list with the option to wake the server, connect to another or add a new one.

econ 74 Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Yes of course. It would try again and fail each time.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 @econ by any chance do you have any users with other clients besides the Rokus? If so, any problems with other clients connecting after the IP change?

Roku seemed to be the only app with the issue.
Luke 42081 Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 We'll look into this in the Roku app. Thanks for reporting.
