justinrh 260 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I can't force a movie to identify. Anything I try gives zero results. Title and year - fail. Title, year, and IMDb ID (tt0462581) - fail. Title, year, and IMDb URL (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462581/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_2tt0462581) - fail. Then, of course, I have to click back > more > Identify between each iteration since there is no choice to try again before aborting. Shouldn't the IMDb ID alone be enough? What am I doing wrong?
Luke 42081 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Hi, what metadata fetchers are enabled on your movie library and in what order? The answer to your question is : does the first fetcher have that imdb id in their database?
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 (edited) Try simply placing tt0462581 it the IMDB field. The rest of what you showed may be confusing things. Leave all other fields empty. Edited December 5, 2020 by Gilgamesh_48
justinrh 260 Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 I did try only the ID (sorry, didn't mention that). I just toggled on OMD, tried the ID, and got a hit! But the movie item poster won't actually update; refreshed (F5) the library and the movie item. (the other metadata did update) (I see the selected hit image bug is fixed - yeah!)
justinrh 260 Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 Suggestion on how to get the poster to update?
Luke 42081 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 What do you mean "wouldn't update"? We'd have to look at an example. thanks.

I don't know what 'wouldn't update' could mean other than the thing doesn't change - no update. Is there something special about this video that precludes the poster update? before identification (default poster assigned by Emby) poster seen during identification after identification
Happy2Play 9783 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Since that image is coming from a online cache for OMDB, I assume OMDB no longer has the image. There are a couple of issues like this from OMDB. I would guess you would see a error in the log for Emby trying to get that image directly from OMDB. {"Search":[{"Title":"Troy's Story","Year":"2005","imdbID":"tt0462581","Type":"movie","Poster":"https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMjQ5Mzc0NzczNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTUyMjE2MQ@@._V1_SX300.jpg"}],"totalResults":"1","Response":"True"}
Luke 42081 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 What image providers are enabled on your library and in what order? Did you check what images your enabled image providers have available? 1

Did you check what images your enabled image providers have available? I had the defaults. So, I toggled on OMD and that seemed to work - thank you. From the recent identify issues I've had, let me make some observations: I'd think some of these errors (failure of some sort, right?) could be trapped and the user notified I've not that these kinds of issues on that other platform, so I didn't even think to dig into the library settings these kinds of issues could really throw newbies (to tech or to Emby) for a loop Unless me and my issues are far out in left field, maybe these things can be used to guide future improvements.
Luke 42081 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Hi, yes this workflow can certainly be improved and those ideas make good sense. Thanks for the feedback.
