Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hello, I'm not sure if it was with the new Emby Server version, but just previously you used to be able to access the Emby Server Settings (library etc.) from Emby Media Player. Now you can no longer access the Emby Server Settings unless connect to the Emby Server directly via web etc. Can you change it back so that you can access the Emby Server settings from Emby Media Player? This makes it easier for myself to access everything for Emby. Tenyrsgone27
Luke 42080 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hi, are you referring to Emby Theater for windows?
Luke 42080 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Yea I made a change that requires an update to the downloaded app, so as soon as we finally get that out, then you'll have that back.
mason.radke 0 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Is there a way to get to the server settings in the meantime? I cant even seem to get to it from the web UI.

mason.radke 0 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Just cant seem to find the server settings. They used to be here. Is there a new URL to hit to server settings? Thank you for your time, and the quick reply. I appreciate it very much, thanks again

I cleared browsing data in chrome, tried incognito mode, tried edge, and tried internet explorer. edge and IE have never been used before. Sounds like the server settings should still be available from this menu?
Tenyrsgone27 19 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 This is my original post. Server settings used to be accessible through Emby player for Windows, but is no longer for the moment. mason.radke 0 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 I assume you mean the emby server i have running on a debian VM. Update it to the latest? I guess i should have already tried that. Thanks again for your help. If for some reason this doesnt help me... i'll be back. Thanks again and you have my premier support.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Hi, make sure you're logging in with a user that is an ADMIN. Once logged in, click the cog icon top right.
Luke 42080 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Yes please try signing out and then back in with your admin user and see if that helps. Thanks.
mason.radke 0 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 for years now i have used the "Mason" account for admin purposes. The other two accounts are definitely non-admin. Im not sure how to get into the server settings to change it to admin. (my original problem). Im not sure when this happened either.. if it was the result of an upgrade or what. is there a default user and pass for admin that i can try under Manual Login? I have upgraded to 4.5.3
Carlo 4561 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 No there is no hidden user accounts to use or anything like that. You control all user accounts, passwords and admin access on your server. How many users do you have setup on your server? Do you know how to navigate the files system on your VM to access where Emby stores it's config files?

Happy2Play 9781 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) Your issue suggest the setting has been disabled on said user. There is no way for Emby to not have at least one account to have "Allow this user to manage the server". System.ArgumentException: System.ArgumentException: There must be at least one user in the system with administrative access. Have you tried another user to see which one has these privileges? 7 minutes ago, mason.radke said: Yes, i can access the config files You can look at the users policy.xml to see which has privileges. But users are stored by a id so you can't really tell who is who without snooping the users.db. path will be platform specific Windows example \Emby-Server\programdata\config\users Edited December 15, 2020 by Happy2Play
mason.radke 0 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 well crap.. my daughters account is somehow the admin account! after logging in with her account i can again manage the server. Was there a security change in a recent release? thank you everyone.

Carlo 4561 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 From the UI you now have access to you can grant your Mason account the admin privs. Test by logging in as Mason. Then if you like as Mason can remove the admin access from the other account.
