I don't have any issue with the standard app passing through any audio format on my Shield.  Everything lights up on the AVR that its coming through correctly.

The stick has limited audio format support (especially depending on exactly which stick).

Can we please look at a specific example?

Hi.

I am talking about the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. I thought you dont need support, just passthrough. Sony doesnt have any problem to do passthrough from HDMI, all the problem is the passthrough with andoid app, only VLC do it well. So a walk around is to buy a Fire TV Stick 4k Max and play emby from there, doing passthrough over FireTV to HDMI to the Sony TV and then to the Home cinema. Or if you have a HDMI Homecinema plug the Fire TV to it.
