Connection impossible on phone (vpn)

Hello, since I installed a vpn on my pc some people who use emby on android or iphone can no longer connect to my server. Other devices do not have this problem. I tried to get them to enter the new ip manually, also connect with emby connect and even remove the server from their phone to add it. I even went so far as to delete the application. nothing works for them. Yet I don't have this problem.

Did you port forward through the VPN?

all i know is the remote ip is changing but the traffic seems not to go through the vpn if i look in windows, pia added a virtual network card and traffic from emby keeps going through my network card  original

The VPN service also has a firewall, and just like you need to portforward through your router firewall, you also need to portforward through the VPN firewall. Some of them don't allow that. So you need find out if they allow that, and then figure out how to do it.

I wonder if emby has had difficulty digesting the vpn for some users, as it works for other devices. I'll check it out. thank you

What I mean is that emby has its own port 8096 and it is added to my router to unblock it remotely. the vpn is auto but I can for example use the 8080 offered and add it to the router, but in any case the vpn only changes the IP but not the emby port for remote access.

It isn't emby. You need to get through the VPN firewall.

ok do you know private internet access? I'm not sure I understand what to do other than change it to a specific port and add it to my router..

Hi, PIA has a split tunnel ability which means you can setup Emby to NOT use the VPN but everything else running on the computer will use the VPN.

That is the easiest fix.  I can tell you some of the meta-data providers do NOT like some of the PIA server address spaces and block requests from them so Emby can't fetch data and you get errors in your logs.  It's best if possible to not have Emby running through the VPN.

Thank you well that's what I did yesterday finally but I thought I had a solution to make everything anonymous

If you're using a VPN only to hide your emby server, I might suggest using SSL and run it through cloudflare. You can do it for free. It isn't quite the level of a VPN, but it does run through a proxy.
