Deinterlace important ?

Setting up live tv (In UK), using pci card and the m3u route. In emby theater the sound is out of sync and the picture choppy. Media files and recorded work fine. Have had a play with the settings like sync display and so on and none really worked. But if I set deinterlace to on the problem continues, if I set it to off the problem disappears.  

 

So how important is deinterlace ?

deinterlacing is a fun thing, basically if its not needed its best to not use it.

Bit more info, turns out the problem only happens on HD channels, sd channels are unaffected

It's possible that those two features may not work well together.
