aldriglikvid 4 Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Hi! I'm slowly updating my system to 4K and I'm pretty excited about it. I have some questions regarding compatibility. I'm satisfied with my Chromecast Ultra + Emby setup. 1) Is it correctly understood that CCU is unable to receive a H265 in a .MKV container without transcoding? https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media 2) There was an "old saying" that transcoding 4K to fit a chromecast was way to cumbersome for most systems. I've been out-of-the-loop for a couple of years. Let's say I have a : 4K H265 / DTS-HD @ 70GB file and I want to make it watchable at my CCU + Emby. What needs transcoding? Everything? My setup: AMD Ryzen 2600X / Nvidia 2600RTX / 32GB Ram Wifi that've benched to ~40mb/s via file transfer sustainable Thanks! :)
Luke 42077 Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Hi, yes chromecast ultra supports hevc in mkv, so in most cases it won't need conversion.
