Hi Friends,
where can i define where emby is writing the Cache and Log Files,
i want to move this on an onother "SSD Raid Disk`s"!!!!! thank you

I have installed Emby normaly, can i download the Portable Version and Resore the Backup in the new Directory?
Want to move from
C:\Users\tznem\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server
to an another disk ???? e:\EmbyServer

I have already the cache on e:\EmbyCache

Metadata = C:\EmbyLokal\Metadaten\metadata ( WHY????? )
How can i change this?

Is there a tool to merge the data, i have over 400000 files .... not media files, but the backup is very slow!

Thanks friends, Svan
ps : sorry, my English is not so good ....

By default the install does not allow installing anywhere else.  But depending on how old your install is you can just relocate the entire folder.  If any shortcuts exist you will have to update them or recreate.

Or get Portable version on download page but relatively the same as relocating.  Really depends on where you save metadata.  But you can relocate Emby's programdata folder to where ever you placed the portable.

Not exactly sure what you mean here.

I have a big Libary ....  metadata 13,5 GB (14.553.556.691 Bytes)
this is now on SSD buti would like to migrate on a ssd raid system, the migration is okay but why do i have this path
C:\EmbyLokal\Metadaten\metadata ???????
If i make a copy of the "metadata" and then link the path to the new path is this okay?
Dashboard-Library Advanced tab ( i have do so but then emby made complete new metadata )

Where are the Config Files? I am not so familiar with the Config ...
I have to try this ....

I have also put the Cache on an another SSD, internal PCIex slot hardrive ...
27.11.2020  23:41    <DIR>          EmbyCache
28.11.2020  00:37    <DIR>          EmbyCAM
20.10.2020  03:33    <DIR>          EmbyIntros
13.10.2020  22:44    <DIR>          EmbyKonvert
27.11.2020  04:06    <DIR>          EmbyLokal
25.11.2020  05:31    <DIR>          EmbyTemp
27.11.2020  03:53    <DIR>          EmbyTrans
14.10.2020  00:36    <DIR>          EmbyTranskode

Yesterday night i had a SSD HDD crash on the c:\ partition so i have to change some configuration for better
performance and security.

What is with  "EmbyCache", do i have to backup it or can i delete the files regulary in this Directory.

Thanks for helping me .... regard :)

Did you previously have a custom metadata path previously?  If so there are going to be Database issues as the custom path will have been written within the database.  What appears in the system.xml for Metadatapath?  As for the database there are queries that can be done to update these paths to use your existing metadata.

I am guessing there will have to be some database work here.

In the edit if you are trying to just transfer to a new location you would relocate the entire Emby-Server folder.  But as mentioned above you can relocate Emby's programdata folder to where ever you placed the portable.

Not really as Emby will recreate it, but if info exist it will not talk as long to rebuild if that is what is happening.

Note for applied custom paths:  Emby will always create a subfolder in whatever path you assign do to to many people pointing multiple custom paths to the same location.

So for example setting Cache to e:\EmbyCache will write to e:\EmbyCache\cache or say Metadata setting to e:\EmbyLokal will write to e:\EmbyLokal\metadata and the same for transcoding-temp folder.

<MetadataPath>C:\EmbyLokal\Metadaten</MetadataPath>
  <MetadataNetworkPath>\\MEDIASERVER1\EmbyLokal</MetadataNetworkPath>   ?????? is
  <PreferredMetadataLanguage>de</PreferredMetadataLanguage>
  <MetadataCountryCode>DE</MetadataCountryCode>
this looks OKAY (for better performance i can put the Metadata on the SSD Raid System?

Buddy, you are a genius, now i understand many things!!!!!
I have to split the Directorys,
Metadata on the SSD Raid System (can i backup the C:\EmbyLokal\Metadaten\metadata and then change the path in the config file?)
I have stoped the Emby Server before i copy the data!!!!
Cache on the HDD Stripe System .... how many performance needs Emby for this?
and what about this buddy
E:\EmbyLokal\Metadaten\metadata\library (the date is from yesterday, maybe becouse of hdd crach?)

and the old Cache Directory i can also delete ...
C:\Users\tznem\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\cache
the youngest date is September 2020, i have change the Path in September.

C:\Users\tznem\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system.old
i can also delete it, its from 09.2020

Thank you buddy
now i can manage some things :)

Hi, you can also leave Emby installed where it' at but move the cache and meta-data directories as these are configurable options in Emby.

Settings->Cache path:
Library->Advanced Tab->Metadata path:

You might also want to change the transcode directory:
Transcoding->Transcoding temporary path:
