solson440 4 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Hello. This is more of an annoyance than anything, but my HTPC setup is a Windows 10 Pro, nVidia GTX 1060 3GB connected to a Yamaha receiver via HDMI, and then to a Samsung 4K TV. After I'm done watching TV, I stop whatever I'm watching, return Emby Theater to the "Start" screen, and turn off the TV and receiver. When I turn everything back on, Emby Theater has left full screen, and is running in a tiny window, making the remote useless. I can close Emby and restart it, and everything works as expected until the next time I turn it off. I have all power options set to never turn display off, and PC does not "sleep." This did not happen when the same setup was connected to a 1080 TV. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Luke 42077 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Hi, this is normal with most windows apps. Please see this topic for some workarounds: Thanks.
ryanfinger 6 Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Yep - Posted a fix last year. Try this... Go to the following registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration Under this key you will have a number of different entries. Inside of each entry will be a 00 folder. Check each folder for the following keys... PrimSurfSize.cx PrimSurfSize.cy The values should equate to the resolution you have set on your PC. In my case the first 3 configurations all matches my resolution (1440 x 1050). A forth configuration was set to 1024x768. This entry is causing Emby to resize to that space when the monitor/TV becomes reconnects. I adjusted those registry keys to 1440 and 1050 respectively and restarted the computer. Now, when the monitor is powered off and on the Emby Theater app remains full screen. 1
solson440 4 Posted May 6, 2021 Author Posted May 6, 2021 Registry changes did not help; as soon as the receiver and TV are turned off, and turned back on, Emby is in a small window in the upper LH of the screen. Registry changes remain, but Emby is windowed every time. Interestingly enough, for other reasons, I reinstalled Windows (10 Pro), and this problem went away. At some point, though; whether it was a Windows update, graphics card driver update, or Emby update, I don't know, but the problem returned and won't go away. I tried an MDK device, but as soon as I plug it in, the display flashes on and off, and the sound on the receiver turns on and off; still waiting for a response from them. It appears that the HDMI detective does not support 4K resolution.
solson440 4 Posted April 27, 2022 Author Posted April 27, 2022 Update: I upgraded my PC to Windows 11, and thus far this problem is solved. Only been 3 days, tho... 1
