shackbill 22 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Well my NVIdia Shield TV Pro bit the dust so i bought a new one and fortunately i have backups. I am in the process of restoring but it seems that while all the libraries were restored, none of the art or metadata was. Running Tasks says it is scanning at 86%. Doesnt backups save everything such as cover art, thumbnails, meta etc? or is there a setting somewhere that i didnt properly set?

It goes faster if you keep your artwork in media folders.
shackbill 22 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Well that's a shame. why bother backing anything up then? Updating everything is what takes all the time., this thing will be a one-armed paper hanger for a week getting this updated. Geez the thumbnails alone will take forever.

The backups would take a long time and would be massive if it included thumbnails. That's why we have the option to store them next to the original video files, so you can just keep them there. 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 For everyone that does not save metadata and images would need to maintain a complete backup of your Emby-Server programdata folder as the \metadata\library items are by id corresponding to the original database entries.

This will save any custom covers AND thumbnails as well?? And any custom Metadata i added? Also, For COVER ART, doesn't that normally get applied on the FLy? For some reason, is only displaying on like 3 covers at the moment. OR do i have to wait until this rescan is complete before it will be applied? Edited November 28, 2020 by shackbill
Luke 42079 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 No, that's for general artwork. Thumbnails have their own option in library settings. You may have to use the toggle to show advanced options in order to see it.

How would i do that? Just backup that folder? is that a manual process?

shackbill 22 Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 oh wait.. Is this the place. This will store Thumbnails as well?
Luke 42079 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 No, there is a dedicated option for thumbnails in the settings for the library.
shackbill 22 Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 I'm just not seeing it. Ive posted the screenshots of everything i see. Can you hold my hand on this and lead me too it?
shackbill 22 Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) Interesting.. I just opened this dashboard in EDGE instead of Chrome and this is what i see now. EDIT: Ok. now i see the difference.. If i select THUMBNAIL IAMGS INTERVAL --> 10 SECONDS then i get the option to Save Video Preview BUT since i use Chapter Markers, that option is not available. What gives on this?? Edited November 28, 2020 by shackbill ChapterMarkers
Luke 42079 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Right, sorry, it's only available with the interval option because we can wrap the thumbnails all into one single .bif file.
shackbill 22 Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 So the best solution then is to backup the programdata folder as suggested by @Happy2play? What about my question Re: coverArt not fullly displaying?
shackbill 22 Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 I will create a separate post for this cover art issue.
