dovedescent7 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 So my Windows 10 machine that serves up emby is pretty much borked. But i seem to recall every time i backup and restore emby from plugin, i always lose library paths and users, in which i need to add/create all of those over again. Is it possible to completely backup/restore my emby so that i can accomplish all of this flawlessly and restore both users, library paths, all live tv info and paths on a new install on same computer? And will it backup and restore my emby premiere key too? How do i do this? Thanks
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 depends to a small extent on where you have emby installed easiest is if its a portable install as this can be copied as a whole and moved back (to the same location) when windows has been re installed if you have a default install - not 100% sure where emby installs stuff as have not used it - somebody else will have to help with that but if you copy back your emby programme folder (to the same path location) then things like users/library etc will be maintained without using the plugin I have not check but the knowledge base might have something on this Or @cayarscan hold your hand if necessary 1

That's strange, as I get all library definitions and Users (with watched status) properly imported upon every rebuild?
dovedescent7 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) Ok, more confused not then before i asked the question... Lmao Just kidding. Ok well im on windows 10 and its installed to this directory in image below. Does this help? Edited November 27, 2020 by dovedescent7
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 ok - take a full backup of that programdata folder and save it somewhere not on the pc so when the pc is back working you can install emby - it will prob create that directory etc for you shut emby down - then replace that new folder with the old one restart emby and you should be back in business BUT - make sure the folder path is exactly the same! 1
Carlo 4561 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 The following knowledge base article covers using the plugin and also manual backup. But if you follow what PenkethBoy has said you'll be fine. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159936-backup 1
