Some of my extras don't have BIF files

Some do, some don't. Not sure if there's any sort of pattern to it. No BIF means no thumbnail, so I just get the coloured square with the filename in it which doesn't look very good.

If you run the scheduled task does it run for a long time or finish up pretty quickly?

Do these extras show up in Emby if you look for them?

It took 25 seconds last time it ran.

They're there, as I said. They just don't have thumbnails, which looks a touch ugly.

Can you go over a specific example.

Do you have a "thumbnail-failures.txt" in your Emby server Cache folder?

I'm not sure how specific I can be. I add a movie, I add extras, and there are no thumbnails generated for the extras. Or some extras get thumbs and some don't.

That file does exist but it mostly seems to be citing my stubs. I did a Ctrl+F for "extras", as it would be included in the path if an extra was listed, but it found no results.

That a good description. Can you provide a sample source file that doesn't get a bif generated?

I'll try and reproduce it.

It seems to be working on everything at the moment; I wonder if it's just not going back and adding BIF files for extras that already exist but don't have thumbnails. New content is BIFfed when it's added, old stuff isn't being picked up by the scheduled task.

I download your extra, added to a movie and have a bif generation in process but it's going to be a while as I just added a few hundred movies to the system.

@Lukewhen you removed bif creation for Trailers was it removed for all Extras?

Some of the extras I've added today got thumbnails, some didn't.

Mine finished up but did not create a bif for "Deleted Scene with Rudy Behlmer Commentary.mkv" that was put in a folder "Extras" under a movie.
The extra does of course show up for the movie so Emby knows about it.

It appears so, yes.

So wait, if none of them have BIF files why do some have thumbnails? Others don't.

I just checked one of the movies I added yesterday and there are indeed no BIF files for the extras even though they have thumbnails when looking at the movie's page in Emby, but then another film I added yesterday has no thumbnails at all for its extras.

Are you saying that some of your extras do have bif files?

Can you show a screen shot of those?

None of my extras have BIF files (at least not stored with the media). They do have thumbnails though, on the movie details screen.

This should be the relevant log.

Crime and Punishment extras have no thumbnails, Spartacus extras have thumbnails. But there are no BIF files in the Extras folder for either movie.

Ahh ok that's what was confusing.  BIF=Thumnails.  You're calling the episode picture a thumbnail I think and that's what was throwing us off.

Well, it was my assumption that it was all related. Perhaps it isn't.

Either way, I'd like all my extras to look like Spartacus, but most of them look like Crime and Punishment at the moment.

To me the log show there were created just like Spartacus extras, but where they went is another story.

Not sure if Debug logging would show more info on another example.

The jpgs are exactly where the log says they should be, in cache/temp.

I assume they're supposed to be moved to somewhere outside the temp folder though?
