Hey guys one question.

At this moment is possible to access emby using ipv6. !?

I ask this due as per you now ipv4 is a pain . In the ........ Right now companies are giving to as just. Private ip (ipv4) and with this is imposible to remotely connect to emby and that is really sad -- looking on the web i found the ipv6 bring public ip ( but i dont know if emby has compatibility with ).  - i was trying to find something to help on the community but i didn't find a solution for it !!

Can we access emby by ipv6 remotely ?

Thanks

I have a full IPv6 service (as well as IPv4, of course) from my ISP.  My system and router are all set up using both IPv4 and IPv6, including specifying the IPv6 local addresses in Emby - which seems happy to accept them.

It works just fine:

But I don't know if Emby Connect handles IPv6 addresses, as I don't use it.

Paul could you send a screenshoot of network config ? . . .. did you put ipv 6 on config .. or ipv4.   ( And what is appearing on your dashboard as remotly access) ?

Im asking that due carrier are giving just private ipv4 ( people call it as cgnat).  And as per i read looking on the web . Ipv6 has the posibility to setup as stable  and also talk about we have public ipv6 - ( i don't know if it is true and how to perform this setup )

For the local network I specified all possible internal addresses the local IP address of the server is optional (it takes it from the OS, which has both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses), and the external domain is specified by name:

External access comes through a reverse proxy (Caddy), but that handles both protocols, and nothing is specified numerically in its setup.

Well . And what about dashboard.

Is showing a normal ip ( ipv4).  Or a ipv 6 to connect remotely  ( specified by name ? ) ...

The dashboard shows the remote access using the domain name (as specified in the network settings).

For the local address it shows only the IPv4 address, which is clearly just because they haven't got round to showing the IPv6 address - remember, my first post demonstrated IPv6 was in use (my client will have got that by looking up the machine name in my local DNS).

I suppose it's worth noting that I give my machines fixed addresses for ease of remembering - and my IPv6 addresses use (as is a not uncommon method) the IPv4 address  in the low-order section to make it even easier.

For me IPv6 access works perfekt(DSLite and native IPv6), but notice that you can only access emby from other IPv6 machines.

When you try to access from your smartphone, it might not work. Because your Mobile ISP have not implemented ipv6 for now and use only IPv4. Test it with: https://ipv6-test.com/ on your Smartphone/Client

You have not to Port forward something on Server site, rather than set a Firewall Rule to access the emby "webserver listen port"

Test it with following URL in your Browser: http(s)://[YOURSERVERIPV6]:serverport

If you wish to access your server from "old IPv4 machines/ISP's" then you need a 4to6 Tunnel or a "Portmapper" in Germany the best way is to use www.Feste-IP.net

Hope it helps...
