Bulk set audio/subtitles per show

Is it possible to bulk set the audio channel and subtitles track for shows, as opposed to having to change them from the default every episode please?

I tried smart but it doesn't set the correct audio and subtitle track

Thanks in advance

Not really from inside Emby.  You can however run all video media through a script such as sickbeard_mp4_automator and with the correct settings convert all files to a specific video format such as h.264 or h.265 and only move audio/subtitle tracks in languages you use.  You can also set it to generate 2 channel audio if not existent already and mark this as the default.

Doing something like this give you media that will direct play on all your devices as long as you have the proper bitrate to support the files (local or remote).

Yeah I considered this but that's a lot of anime to remux lol

Just out of interest what is the limitation in emby that prevents being able to do it in bulk?

Have you explored your emby user preferences?

Yes I had a look and tried smart, forced etc but it does it then for a lot of shows I don't need them as opposed to just ones in a specific series, so instead of having to enable for some series I have to disable for others, I also couldn't see a way for setting default audio track per series

Unless there is something I am missing

Hi, Default tracks for a movie/episode need to be done in the media itself.

In Emby you make a global setting that applies to everything on that app/device OR make a selection for each media.  It will remember the setting you used for specific media but you can't have different settings for different shows or movies.

Hi there

I see, is that just a limitation of the software, is it something that might be added at a later date as a feature?

I wouldn't think so as this info is pulled from the media itself.  It would be kind of bad to have a default set in the media and a different default set in Emby as that would be a conflict.

For Audio there is a global option in user preferences as Luke was eluding to but it is global not per Show.  Only other way is Default track tags.

Yes for language but not for track type.

I guess I don't really understand why it would be possible to achieve it globally but not on a per show basis, would it require a fundamental redesign of the software?

It's not the end of the world obviously just wondering why, I love emby and it's the only one niggle I have with it

Yes it would require changes to database, the server and all clients as they would have more information they would need to look for and process.

I think it would also get pretty confusing as well for most users, probably not power users.
