Metadata Not Updating after I update it (even manually)

Did a search on this and coming up empty.

I have updated metadata in certain albums to remove bogus artists from certain tracks as I have a whole bunch of artists showing up in the artist section that shouldn't be there. However, even with getting the correct data updated manually the 'artists' still remain. Is there a time frame that the server uses to update the DB?

So, for instance, a saw the artist 'a' in my 'artists' list. It turns out that one album I had was taking the first word from each track and attributing an artist from that word. I removed all of those and made sure each track had the right artist designated. The artist 'a' (and all the other ones from that album) still remain in the 'artists' list.

As well - one compilation album had all tracks but one correct with the album artist designated as 'Various Artists' but the one track designated the album artist as the track artist. The overall album data still says the album artists are 'Various Artists' plus the other artist, even though I removed the other one.

Sorry if my description's a little convoluted - hope it makes sense.

I tried both directly from the tracks themselves as well as the metadata manager (on each track). No go on either. The 'ghost' artists are still there.

Can you please go over an example? I would remove them from the embedded metadata of the tracks and then run a library scan in emby server.

Sure - I mentioned the example above but it might have been a little convoluted. I'll break it down:

Album is 'My Thoughts are Ours From Here' by Zach Winters.

Originally each track, for instance, 'A petition, a plea, a siren' designated a track artist based on the first letter of the track name. In this case, 'A' was the artist.

I cleaned all of that up and changed both the 'artists' and 'album artists' tag to Zach Winters for each track.

While the album now shows the tags correctly, 'a' is still listed in my artist list.

Do I have to go to the file itself to remove them from the embedded metadata? Not sure how to do that.

Thanks for your help. By the way - I have not found a system that's as robust and beautiful as Emby and plan to use it for a long time now that I've finally ordered myself a QNAP NAS server and upgraded to premiere. I really appreciate the software and the work you put into the community forums as well.
