justinrh 260 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 After setting up my new Emby server today, I found correcting movie title matches a bit frustrating. Maybe the Emby team can take these issues as things to improve, or show me if I'm missing something. If I give only a year (because I assumed name would already be in the query), a pop-up says "Please enter a name or an external Id." but there is no way to get back to the search screen to correct my query. I have to cancel the search and invoke 'Identify' again. When I select the correct identification, the next screen shows a missing image icon next to the title. Then after making the change, I wait for the movie data to update, then go back to the library page and it does not update. I have to force a refresh of the library page (same thing after deleting a movie). If there are no successful matches, there is no way to try again. You have to cancel and invoke 'Identify' again. click, click, click Suggestion - pre-populate the name field with the file name or the existing title to give the user a good starting point (can put an X button in the field if you think users will want to blank it to search by ID)
Luke 42079 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Quote pre-populate the name field with the file name or the existing title Hi, we used to do this, and users reported the feature returning the wrong results because they never thought to remove the name from the field. Isn't your goal to change the identification to something new?
Luke 42079 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Quote When I select the correct identification, the next screen shows a missing image icon next to the title. Hi, what did you select? I know you won't like this answer, but the missing image icon is probably due to a bad image url coming from provider data, not something we'd be able to correct, although it could be handled better visually.

The issue is Search shows a image but the next screen is broken. This is reproducible on all media I have tested on. Not sure as the url to the image appears to be correct, when I copy and fix the / coding. http://homeserver:8096/emby/Items/RemoteSearch/Image?imageUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fimage.tmdb.org%2Ft%2Fp%2Foriginal%2Ffw02ONlDhrYjTSZV8XO6hhU3ds3.jpg&ProviderName=TheMovieDb https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/fw02ONlDhrYjTSZV8XO6hhU3ds3.jpg 4.5.2.0/4.6.0.5 Edited November 14, 2020 by Happy2Play 1

Luke 42079 Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Ok yes I can reproduce the broken image. That's easily resolved. Thanks for reporting. @justinrh what about my other question?

I found that most of the time the title was correct or mostly correct and I just had to add the year to find what the correct identification. If you've already tried this and users didn't like it, then no need to chase it. Thanks for the info.

It's what we did a long time ago, and users constantly reported the identify dialog either returning no results or the wrong results. And then our answer was always that they should either change or remove the title, and we even had help text to inform them of that but it was still constant troubleshooting.

I'm using Firefox on the server box and on remote boxes. The server uses a web socket connection to send realtime updates to the client. Perhaps you have something in your network configuration preventing that connection from happening.
justinrh 260 Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 (edited) I just tried the update identify workflow and delete workflow. In both cases, the library does not update on its own (at least not within 3min). To be sure, I'm in the movie detail page, not the library page, when I do the identification, which is not like @Happy2Play's test. I'm connected to localhost. What about my networking could be affecting this, especially on localhost? It is out-of-the-box Windows. Edited November 19, 2020 by justinrh

But for some reason I am getting a error trying to attach the gif. Edited November 19, 2020 by Happy2Play

justinrh 260 Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 @Luke only TheMovieDb is enabled.
Luke 42079 Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Thanks for the info. We'll do some testing with it.
justinrh 260 Posted November 21, 2020 Author Posted November 21, 2020 FYI. I'm seeing the same thing in the metadata mgr. I have to refresh the page to see the saved edits.

justinrh 260 Posted November 21, 2020 Author Posted November 21, 2020 The edits I'm making in the metadata mgr, like Title of an album.

Select an item, make an edit, his Save. Nothing changes on the left side (tree). F5 and re-expand the tree to see the changes. Seems like the exact same issue with the library not auto-updating.
