HimbeerToni 1 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Hey, I fully tagged my music library with beets and then added it to emby. Emby works fine in grabbing the covers and displaying them. But unfortunately there are some covers wrongly tagged by beets. I then corrected them manually with mp3tag and now I am trying to display the changed covers in emby. So far i tried "update metadata" and "replace existing images" but this isn't working. I also tried to empty my music folder (scan library afterwards) and add the folder again. Neither of these methods works. Am I missing something ? Why would emby not reset the whole music library metadata ? And what can i do to overcome this problem? I really dont want to delete my library.db and rescan all of my media. Thanks in advance for your help.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 i would remove the affected albums from emby - do a library scan - then when finished re add the albums IIRC there is an outstanding issue with embedded images for songs not being picked up by emby when changed
HimbeerToni 1 Posted November 15, 2020 Author Posted November 15, 2020 Well, I tried that but it didn't help. Somehow it seems that emby still saved these covers and reloaded them although they shouldn't be there anymore. Anymore suggestions what to do? Or do I have to reset the database?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Can you show specific examples. What providers do you have enabled? Have you tried Deleting the Album image in Emby UI then Refresh for Missing Metadata? It would appear folder image supersedes track images in my test as i just changed the Album image in folder but not track images and Emby used folder image for all tracks.
HimbeerToni 1 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Okay, I try to explain. I changed the embedded album image with mp3tag and also the file "albumart.jpg" in the specific folders. Any attempt to refresh the displayed cover did not work. Now I will try your suggestion to just delete the album cover in emby UI. But what is the difference to my procedure to delete the whole album in emby UI? I think thats the same and I dont think that it will work. I will let you know when I have tried it. And is it only with me that changes in a somewhat larger collection take a long time to be adopted?

This is not a authorized naming scheme so that image would not be used. Do you have image providers enabled on the library? https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159113-music-naming We would need to go over specific examples (screenshots usually the best)
dansblackcat 37 Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Make sure the tracks don't have multiple images embedded in them. I used to use mediamonkey and that would show you all the covers for a track. I had some with 4 or 5 images in them.
HimbeerToni 1 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Finally, it works. Thanks for the hint at the naming scheme. I deleted the albums and added them again with the right cover.jpg file. But I still don't know why emby wouldn't extract the embedded image and replace the old one, when I click on refresh metadata. All songs were properly tagged with just one embedded image. Maybe the team can improve this refresh metadata option Thanks a lot.

Dev will have to comment more, but full context examples are need to figure out if there is a issue as metadata providers can skew results. A provider image can be different then embedded images. This is something we can look at handling though. Thanks for reporting. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/73141-album-art-not-updating/&do=findComment&comment=737731 1
Luke 42080 Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 Hi there, yes can you please go over an example? thanks.
HimbeerToni 1 Posted November 21, 2020 Author Posted November 21, 2020 Hey, it is the same problem as in the linked thread from Happy2Play. You can also close the thread. Sorry for the circumstances that I didn't encounter the existing problem right away. 1
