EPG GZIP

I am using Emby on macOS.  My EPG data is in gzip format.  However, something is happening it looks like Emby is downloading a new complete EPG for every channel each time an update is requested.  This has resulted in filling up my internal 1 TB SSD.  I see where this has been discussed several years ago, but I never saw a solution.

If anyone can provide a solution (must be simple, I'm 75!) I will really appreciate it.

Does anyone know if this is unique to gzip, as I have the same issue. Gave up on live TV for the moment, as it was never completing

If you manually download the zip and extract it to a local HDD and point Emby at the extracted guide data, does it work ok then?

That works fine. 
The EPG (gzip) download works too, but it takes a while and adds over 1GB on my drive.
