It's already November 14, 2024, and the issue with Emby on Xbox Series X still persists—playing 4K HDR or Dolby Vision content causes Emby to crash and freeze. This is really disappointing. I paid for a lifetime membership, yet the service is completely unusable. I really hope the developers take this seriously and fix this long-standing issue as soon as possible. I'm really frustrated!

@HabitueThe new windows and Xbox apps have been in the beta testing process for about a month or two now. HDR is working in the beta. It shouldn't be too long before it goes to stable release, they're just trying to iron out some of the last few bugs.

My primary client is Xbox so I've been using the beta app to help with testing and submitting bug reports on any issues I encounter.

They dropped the final version a couple of weeks ago. Here's the announcement. "The new Emby app for Windows & Xbox"
