scrambles 1 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I just picked up a 2020 roku ultra to upgrade my streaming setup from the laggy integrated apps on a 2017 samsung tv. Unfortunately just about every difference I'm noticing is for the worse, but there's one in particular that's enough of a dealbreaker that I may be returning the roku. In the tizen app, all content in a library is sorted together: tv shows, movies and collections are all inline. On the roku app, tv shows and collections are grouped together A-Z and THEN movies are sorted A-Z afterwards. This is super confusing and my kids are going to be constantly frustrated by situations like the attached photo, where they have to through Wild Kratts and Winnie The Pooh to find 101 Dalmations. I've dug through settings and found nothing, and found an old thread about this issue which wasn't much help either. How do I change this behavior?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Not sure what the default sort option is but if you navigate up to the A-Z option, what is it set to? Have you changed it to Name?
ebr 16169 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Try the beta version to see if it is different but I would also strongly suggest using TV and Movie libraries here.
skidmarks 199 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 (edited) I like how the dashboard home view is set up. Which is what i believe the OP is seeing. Multi-video files (TV Series) on top then Movies after in mixed content folders (although having to go one more step to get into the movie is strange). My rokus all show A - Z in mixed content folders which is what the OP wants to see. I need to investigate the view options because i would really like it the way the OP currently sees it. This does not effect my normal TV and Movie libraries. But i do love a mixed content folder for holiday related items! Running Beta Edited November 10, 2020 by skidmarks
speechles 2055 Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) When there is no default yet set for the sort for that view it returns it in the order the OP has. Once you set a view sort it removes that "no default set" presentation. There currently isn't a way to select "nothing" as the view sort and get it back to how it originally starts without the user having selected anything yet from the sort to change anything. It will not be set to anything on the selector. No check mark shown next to any of the sorts. That is how you know it is on the "nothing". It might also say "Name" and not actually be by name as the "nothing" is an undetermined sort order. Once you change the sort to anything the "nothing" is never available again. If it causes a different sort maybe we should allow "nothing/reset-to-default" as a sort? The "nothing" in the logic will give an alpha picker. Edited November 11, 2020 by speechles

Also no change toggling the "group items into collections" setting. 15 hours ago, ebr said: Try the beta version to see if it is different but I would also strongly suggest using TV and Movie libraries here. Thank you for the beta link - it's sorting properly there! A significant reason I use Emby instead of Plex is that Emby supports mixed libraries, so if basic features like this went away I'd be pretty disappointed.
Luke 42077 Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 It's not going away, but it is a hard feature to support and it requires some compromises, so that's why it won't be as robust as a dedicated movie or tv library.
scrambles 1 Posted November 11, 2020 Author Posted November 11, 2020 I believe it, based solely on how many threads there have been over the years on plex forums.
