Richard Branches 330 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 (edited) If you are not getting DTS passed through directly to your AVR make sure you have set the following: 1) The CC must be set to AUTO in the audio settings 2) Emby app must also be set to AUTO in the audio setting 3) Make sure the DTS option is turned ON in Emby audio settings If you're getting DTS transcoded to Dolby Digital, that means Emby app doesn't detect a DTS support on the CC, therefore, if you don't want Dolby Digital then uncheck the DTS option and you'll get multichannel PCM. For some reason the Emby app doesn't detect the DTS support on most Android TV devices but DTS passthrough works with other apps such as VLC, Nova Video Player, MX Player, etc. Edited July 14, 2021 by Richard Branches 1
filski 5 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 @Richard Branches Stoked to have come across your reply here! I was getting lots of audio transcoding, AAC 5.1, DTS 5.1 etc, with a Chromecast with Google TV and Onkyo 696 receiver. Now direct playing, thank you.

Richard Branches 330 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Question: Can Dolby TrueHD and DTS decoding to PCM be implemented on the Emby app for LG and Samsung TVs?, the server is also currently transcoding those codecs to Dolby Digital so it would be useful if this is also implemented on the app for both TV brands.
Richard Branches 330 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 I guess it's just a matter of adding the "Convert unsupported surround audio to Dolby Digital" option already available on the Android app so I can turn it off:

Those TV platforms are not likely to support decoding or outputting multi-channel PCM which is why the app is behaving the way it is now.

Correction, they output multichannel PCM and I can prove it. Edited February 12 by Richard Branches

Richard Branches 330 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 I know, that's why I wonder if it's possible to implement, the idea is to avoid transcoding as much as possible.
