TV - Season metadata - TheMovieDB or TheTVBD?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. Does Emby use TheMovieDB or TheTVdb for tv SEASON metadata? In settings, the UI shows TheMovieDB as the only option for scraping metadata. However inside the MetaData Manager, it's asking for the TheTVDB id. Which one is correct?

Specifically, I can't get the TV show, "The Haunting" to work at all. Some sources list it as 1 series with 2 seasons, other sources list it as 2 different series. I would prefer to have one Series called The Haunting with 2 seasons: The Haunting of Hill House (season 1) and The Haunting of Bly Manor (season 2).

My folder structure is: Show\Season\Files

Any suggestions?

Use Identify on your Series level with TVDB Id (345246) and it should populate it according your preference.

The Haunting gets a bit confusing. In Emby it comes up as two separate series "The Haunting Of Hill House" and "The Haunting Of Bly Manor" when in actuality both are the same series. Now in DuckieTV which grabs it's data from Trakt who grabs their data from TheTVDB both seasons are treated as one series "The Haunting" as they should be. Also Sonarr treats the two seasons as one series like it should.

So in my case I can remove the two I have and simply replace the one you posted to correct the series?

That depends on your folder structure. If you have a single Show folder (The Haunting) and both of them nested as separate seasons (with proper naming), it should have been done automatically already, and if not, Identify should correct that.

Edit: DO Rename your Bly Manor episode files as S02Exx or whatever naming convention you use.

The later is exactly what I was just going to ask about. Normal is say parent folder 9-1-1, subfolders Season 1, Season 2, ETC... In this case I'd assume parrent The Haunting, subs The Haunting season 1, The Haunting season 2.

File examples The Haunting Of Hill House S01E01 Episode name, The Haunting Of Bly Manor S02E01 Episode name.

If You think I should set it up differently please let me know. Thanks and thand for the info.

Nope, Season 1 and Season 2 as subfolders should work as well, just ditch that "of Hill House" and "of Bly Manor" in episode names, i.e. The Haunting S01Exx.

I just did the below and will test

The Haunting (2018)
  The Haunting Season 1
  The Haunting Season 2

Changed the Bly Manor episodes to S02 instead of S01

Yeah, that should work. Do tell the result. 😉

Thanks again that worked like a charm. Had to remove Hill House and Bly Manor from the episode titles, but that's just fine by me. Looks good.

yep, thanks. The step I had missed was renaming the episode titles (ie. removing the Hill House/Bly Manor). Thank you!
