Default video quality for a user

Right now the way it works (from my understanding) is you can set the "Home Network Quality" to say 720p - 4mb, but if you then change the quality on a video you are watching, that value (720p-4mb) is overwritten for other videos.  Is there a way to make that default back to 720p?

I have a pretty unique setup for my emby server where I'm using one emby user for multiple actual users, some users connecting over a VPN with hotspots to watch company provided announcement videos and such.  So if one user selected 1080p for a video and then the next user who is on a 4mb connection starts watching the video, it will just buffer until they change the setting back to 720p.  I'm trying to make it where it just always resets to 720p.

Setting it to auto doesn't appear to work correctly.  It just plays direct play instead of actually adjusting for connection speed.

Edit: forgot to mention, we are only using web browsers to connect to emby.  Chrome, IE, Edge, and Firefox.

But these are client specific settings.  So setting on one Chrome browser, on one computer does not affect another computer.

That is do to VPN connect considers the connection local so internet stream limits do not apply.  If not on VPN applying a Internet Streaming bitrate limit should work for external connections.  Or define IPs that are considered Local.

Hi, yes it sounds like you need to explore the network settings in Emby Server in order to allow the server to properly distinguish between local and external connections.
