Bazzu85 22 Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 (edited) Hi, here's the problem: playing some file that need transcoding (caused by ass subs) start very slowly and the same thing for transcoding: ffmpeg-transcode-f0d5abd1-3c83-4de7-8223-36b5f70484a7_1 One Piece.txt another example: with movie forcing to transcode the cpu/gpu is used fully: I have a I5 10400 and I'm using the integrated graphics.. Using as player the new chromecast tv 2020 (emby version AndroidTv 1.8.42g) with the first 2 files ffmpeg is using 0.5% of CPU (total load 4%): suggestions? Edited October 27, 2020 by Bazzu85
Bazzu85 22 Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 (edited) I tried additionally to play the first file with web player from chrome and the transcoding is perfect: casting the same file on chromecast doesn't transcode.. but IMHO there's a problem in android tv app Edited October 28, 2020 by Bazzu85
Luke 42083 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Hi, please try this on your android tv and see how it compares: Thanks. 1
Bazzu85 22 Posted October 29, 2020 Author Posted October 29, 2020 Hi, just updated on android tv but I see this version..why?
CBers 7451 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 1.8.43g is the latest beta version of the Android TV app. If you want to try the app that Luke mentioned above, you'll find the APK in post #1 of that thread, which you will have to sideload. 1

Bazzu85 22 Posted October 29, 2020 Author Posted October 29, 2020 ok, le sideloaded apk doesn't transcode the ass subs..play directly let me understand some basic information.. I tried the apk version and the interface is completely different from the original playstore installation.. the same thing for the versioning.. so the sideloaded apk what is? is a future rework that are going to be the playstore version?

So how it works with app updates? In beta android tv version for example there's the subtitle background function that I love.. The Android mobile version is going to be stand-alone forever? @Luke any chance to fix the transcoding issue in PlayStore version? BTW I installed aptoide store on tv that let me install the android mobile version directly (3.1.23), so I can keep this app updated.. Edited October 29, 2020 by Bazzu85

You can turn off the option in the app to transcode ASS subs. If you don't want to do that, you can obtain external subs and try those as, I think, your delay is probably coming from having to extract the internal subs before they can be processed (conjecture). Finally, the mobile app is using a customized version of the player that can render the ASS subs in the app. The store TV app will eventually get this same capability. 1

I think that using the same player between android mobile and tv , can be a great options!
