anontv 0 Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 when i hit scan library files for directly for my libraries, emby says scanning library files for about 5 secs then goes away. no mention of scanning in dashboard when i check the logs, i see no mention of scans. when i hit scan library files button (the one to scan all libraries) emby says scanning library files but stays stuck at 9% again, nothing in logs. ive restarted the server, reinstalled emby, made sure to update to latest one. running ub18 embyserver.txt
Luke 42079 Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Where is the media located, on the same machine as the server?
Haxy 11 Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 I have the same problem. My Emby server is on Ubuntu 20.10 server. I have nfs share mounted with TV shows. Every time new file appears in nfs share Emby does not see it. I have to run Scan Library Files manually from library option

I have to run Scan Library Files manually from library option Without hijacking the thread, real time monitoring will never work via a network mounted share because none of them (nfs, smb) support INotify, which is what emby relies on to do real time monitoring. There are scripts floating around that will do it via file watchers + the emby api, but other than that you're out of luck.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 That’s not my experience. Emby on windows, media on 2 different nas. RTM works almost instantly

Luke 42079 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 The realtime notifications come from the .NET Core runtime. On Linux, the .net core runtime uses INotify, which has some limitations. On Windows it uses api's built into the windows operating system, and I think it's just a little more robust than what INotify supports.
