jangle 1 Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Good Afternoon, I am reviewing the loading of image covers during browsing a movie or tv list and now I have a high number of titles and a faster machine I wanted to confirm a setting. If the library has 'Save artwork into media folders' turned on does that load the image file from the source every time or is it stored on the server cache folder. The reason I ask is if the image is stored with each title then the performance issue is at source therefore I am better loading all images onto Emby Cache? Regards, Stuart
Luke 42086 Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Hi, it may or may not improve performance. It just depends on how fast your media storage drive is vs the drive that emby server is installed on.
jangle 1 Posted October 21, 2020 Author Posted October 21, 2020 In theory Emby resides on SSD so switching that option off would be sensible as the IOPS for the storage is slow response time. Wasn't sure if it cached it. Just strange how it takes sometimes a few mins to show all the movie covers. Regards, Stuart
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 they are cached and dont come from the slower media storage once they are cached - so ssd for cache folder/metadata folder etc however if they have not been loaded before then emby needs to process them and then cache them - so initial loading can be slower for a new item or one not viewed before etc also the cache expires after 30 days so will be re read 1
