CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Using Emby for android app. Playing a 1080p x265 aac movie causes stuttering. 2gb file. The movie plays but has a constant judder. If I play a 4k version it works smoothly. How can you check HDR is enabled too? VLC plays smoothly if used as external player. Luke 42079 Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Hi, once it gets updated to 3.1.44+, please let us know how that compares. thanks.
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted October 15, 2020 Author Posted October 15, 2020 Hi Luke I'll give it a shot. Will this be a stable release or a beta? Is it possible to know if HDR is actually enabled too? I tried stats for nerds but doesn't show this. Cheers
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 HI @Luke I have Emby for Android 3.1.44 on my tablet. Just a quick update... Still suffering with playback issues. 1080p file still isn't smooth. The 4k file plays smoothly with HDR but you cannot skip into the film without suffering from artifacts. I tried using the Emby for Android TV it didn t work, should it on a tablet? Thanks
Luke 42079 Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 Quote I tried using the Emby for Android TV it didn t work, should it on a tablet? Probably not, but it uses the same video player so the result should be the same anyway.

Luke 42079 Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 Hi, can you try this version and see how it compares? Thanks.

But it does seem slightly smoother playing a 1080p x265 aac 5.1 4K plays with HDR but if you skip ahead. Screen completely covered in artifacts. Would you like me to try a few films of the same encoding and drop the logs in this post for you? Cheers
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Hi Luke I have been having no issues with stuttering on both my Samsung S6 Tablets until the last couple of days. I have played a few files on both tablets, to prove it is an issue. Both show the same stuttering problem. I have tried using the external player option with vlc and that fixes the issue but isnt ideal. Using emby and the built in player on my phones s21ultra and a oneplus 7t work smoothly. Shields are perfect and pc too. I have tried playing with file downloaded onto the tablet which makes no difference. Emby server says its direct playing. File is small 2gb 1080p x265 5.1 aac If you need anything else let me know. Thanks hardware_detection-63773372771.txt ffmpeg-transcode-600dc230-bfcd-44ef-9ff8-264153c37ea0_1.txt embyserver.txt

CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 Hi Luke I tried but made zero difference. I tried the same size file but different container. Mp4 seems to have the issue as I haven't had a problem with mkv so far it testing. I'll try some more to day and let you know.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Hi, just curious if you have issues with all mp4 files or just this one? Of course mp4 is just a container so I'd ask if you look at these mp4 in Emby on the media detail section at the bottom as an admin what video and audio codecs are used? How about in the MKV files that play back? Have you tried taking a working MKV file that plays fine and do a simple remux to mp4 so the same streams and codec are present, how does this play? This test will show if the Samsung tablet has a fault or bug with mp4 or not.
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Hi Cayars I have tested with different mp4's which work just fine. Same encoding as problem mp4. I used mkvtoolnix to change container from mp4 to mkv it made zero difference in playback. I'm unsure of the best way to remux an mkv to mp4?
Carlo 4561 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Oh, I bet I see the problem. This is a 10 bit encoded file which your tablet probably just doesn't handle well especially in mp4 format. Is this the same with other mp4 files you have a problem playing?
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 I have been playing 10bit files with zero issue using emby on the tablet. Even large 60mbps files. It just seems to be a few files that cause issue yet plays perfectly smoothly using vlc on tablet. Very confusing. Is there anything I could send you that would help?
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 Would you like a chapter to try?

CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 Mind Blown Also cant get it to work Ill do it another way, thanks
Luke 42079 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 If you play the same file twice, does it happen in the same spot both times, or is it random?
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 The stutter is consistent all the way through. It's a micro stutter. It's in both formats
