Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 There is a "Will Not Record" on all the programs that I have scheduled to record. It also seems I can't manually schedule anything. I would rather not post logs in a public forum, whomever wants to help me fix this, please post and I'll send you the logs in a PM.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Can you post a picture of what you see regarding the "Will Not Record"?
Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 Not really sure why you needed this. I have done 4 guide refreshes, none of them has gotten my series or manual recording to show up. Rebooted the computer, restarted emby, nothing is getting these to show up under scheduled and that also means that nothing is recording anymore.. Not cool.
ebr 16184 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hi. What are the settings under "Series Settings"?
Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 It's been recording fine for a long long time. These shows are new every day, something is up.
ebr 16184 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 What version of the server are you running? As a test, try un-checking "Skip Episodes in my Library", run a guide refresh and see if anything changes. If it doesn't, navigate to one of the Series recordings (Live TV Library -> Series) and, in the list of showings that have greyed out record indicators, click one. Does it turn red?
Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 Version 4.5.2.0, and I noticed it on the previous version as well. Refreshing the guide now. Either way this is a bug because "New" means New. It should never be in my library because it hasn't aired yet. I understand why you want me to see what happens though.
Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) @ebr After a guide rescan it is back with the setting "Skip Episodes in my Library" UNCHECKED. What to do now with the rest of my 80 series settings? Edited October 13, 2020 by Tony B.
ebr 16184 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Okay, so we can assume that the system thinks these items are already in your library. This could be a data problem or a bug. If you try that test with a couple more series, can you confirm they each get scheduled?
Tony B. 38 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) Just did it for the ones I want to make SURE are recorded today (or, until you get a fix). The ones I chose were all there after a guide refresh. Edited October 13, 2020 by Tony B.
ebr 16184 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 @cayars can you test this out and see if we have a new bug here?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 I'm in the Eastern Time Zone and record most of those same shows and I'm not having an issue with any of them recording other than the fact that some of the shows aren't on right now because of the Amy Coney Barrett Supreme Court Nomination hearings in front of the Senate. @Tony B. what app is that being shown in the picture? Have you tried looking at the recording settings in the web app? Do you get the same problem? Would you be open to a remote session to let me take a look?

The bottom screenshot was just off the desktop. Continue by PM if you want to do a remote desktop session. Although, you haven't seen any logs, would that even help figure out why it isn't scheduling it? Or, does it not show you stuff like that?
Tony B. 38 Posted October 14, 2020 Author Posted October 14, 2020 It's obviously a bug from the newer versions. It's been working perfectly since installation a year ago.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 What I'd like to understand first is if it's a server or app issue? That's why I'm asking if you have issues with recordings in the web admin. Logs can be helpful but it's nice to know what is done on screen vs what should be done in the logs following what was just done.

I unchecked 'The Five' 'Skip Episodes in my Library' Then went on the server to initiate a guide rescan. It began to show. After, I did Tucker, South Park and, a couple others on my desktop like before. While scanning, I watched the Scheduled page populate. Totally baffling.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Got a few minutes time you could spare today to show me this in a browser? If so I'll PM you so we can do this.

Not necessarily. It could also be a data problem. Like, say the guide data is calling all these items the same episode so the system thinks that you already have it. I'm not saying that is what is happening, but that is one possibility. @cayars make sure you replicate his settings - specifically the keep only one episode and the "don't record items in my library" option... 1

Since the new version I have NO Recordings scheduled with that box checked. The hour and a half that I spent with cayers didn't help at all. I don't think we were talking about the same thing or something was missing in communication. Before 4.5 and below, I have never had a scheduling difficulty where it didn't know that Comedy Central was Comedy Central and KNOWS that it is in my library and would not record an episode that is currently in my library. After 4.5, I am not getting any series programs to record unless I have that box unchecked, which means that I am getting a lot of programs I already have in my library. I have been using emby with two IPTV providers and the Emby DirecTV guide, then xTeVe to number them to make sure that I would the proper guide data for the proper channel. I have NEVER used it differently. In this case, I think there is a bug. Something since the update decided it didn't want to record the things it's been recording for a year solid. If the software changed the way it works, there needs to be a complete outline of how to use Emby Guide data from a specific provider (mine is DirecTV) and tell us how to get our series to record again. Also, @Luke described that top of the list of guide data providers takes precedence over the anything under that. If that is still true, please let me know. I have no problem with progression on software but when someone tells me that "it's always been this way" and I have been doing COMPLETELY opposite, makes it very stressful. Just an FYI: Top Guide Data Provider: Emby DirecTV Under that is Emby Guide data for AT&T in zip 90210 for missing west channels on my M3U provider. Under that is my locals Under that is my xTeVe guide for other channels that are not in the DirecTV/AT&T lineup For Example: "The First 48" WOULD NOT RECORD until I had "Don't record items in my library" checked. After I unchecked it, it scheduled a couple of them, but not all of them, which means that this option isn't working anyway. Because I had grey circles and red circles, EVERYTHING should be red unless there is no tuner left to record it. Canceling the series and redoing the "Record Series" didn't help either. Please make it work again, this is a HUGE burden. There is a bug or someone changed a way that it works. Either way, it's not working the way it's been working for the entire time I've been using Emby.

The option is based on season and episode numbers, so looking at this screenshot, it's season 2020 episode 208. Do you already have that in your library?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 It's not just that Luke, but the fact he has 4 Fox News channels in his lineup. So sometimes these recording show up on other channels or may not at all as episodes are missing on some channels. Also on some channels the episodes as messed up due to the duplicate stationIDs in the lineup. Data in the Guide is unreliable due to the lineup and duplicate stations/EPGs.
Tony B. 38 Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 I have 2 of every cable channel lined up PROPERLY with DirecTV guide info. AGAIN! Never had this problem where it wouldn't schedule before the new version.
Tony B. 38 Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) @Luke The problem seems to be solved with unchecking the box for "Don't record" then rechecking it. There is a VERY long "backlog" in the guide. I have guide data going all the way back to the 1st of the month. Not sure what that is all about Issue is solved, please close this thread.
