Rayger 14 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Hello, I'm trying to configure my PC to sleep after being idle for an hour, but my system is reporting that EmbyServer is preventing the PC from going idle. There are no scheduled tasks currently running. If I restart EmbyServer, then it appears to be okay, but eventually it will start preventing it again. embyserver.txt
Luke 42420 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hi, on windows, emby server will keep the machine awake as long as there is at least one connected emby app. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
Rayger 14 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 Ok. I tested it without any apps connected, and it still is preventing sleep. Any other suggestions?
Luke 42420 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 please attach the emby server log from the time you expected it to sleep. thanks.
Rayger 14 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 I kept the app off for a longer period of time and the server process finally stopped. It's able to sleep now. Would it be possible to let it sleep with Emby Theater open? Any possible options for that? I like to leave the program up on running on the PC, rather than exiting.
Frost24 1 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) edit : The powercfg request was removed after 20 minutes, if you open the web app, it takes around 3-4 minutes for Emby to start blocking your PC sleep, and around 20 minutes without activity to stop blocking sleep. Is it possible to reduce that delay ? Also, when I reopened from sleep, the sleep blocker reappeared once again, but I had a Emby web tab opened, but it was still inactive. It feels inconsistent and kind of hard to understand how it works exactly. Same issue, typing powercfg -requests shows Emby Server blocking my PC from sleeping. Launching PC -> Opening Emby -> Not launching to the web app by not clicking on "Browse Library" (also by disabling launch web browser at startup) = No requests to block, meaning my PC can go to sleep, I even waited 15 minutes to make sure nothing appears in powercfg. Launching PC -> Opening Emby -> Launching to the web app by clicking on "Browse Library" = Request to block appears after waiting around 3-4 minutes, meaning my PC cannot go to sleep after that. Even if I open the web app for 2 seconds then immeditely close it, it will still block sleep, and it won't go away even after it's closed. Meaning that it will run indefinitely if I forget to close my PC, even if I am not using it. How can I disable this blocking feature ? I did know the exact timing second where the powercfg request appeared, but I could not find anything in that timing second in the logs, there is nothing in the same minute too, so there is a missing part where nothing is logged, but it's probably because I was on other tabs not on the web app hence why it stopped recording. Normally apps are the ones adding requests in powercfg and are able to control it, I know some apps that blocks PC from sleeping immediately after opening, but once I close the app, the block request immediately disappears, meaning somewhere in the Emby source code there is lines of code that intentionally tells Windows not to sleep, but the only issue is that it does not remove that request if not needed anymore.
