renecd 4 Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I have my music sorted the recommended way music / artist / album Problem is I have a few special "box sets", which contain several albums, so I'd need to have something like music / artist / box set / album But all the music in the albums just get thrown in under the box set. How can I add an extra level?

Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 @Luke is this not do to naming scheme as one has only "disc x" and the other has (disc x). The (disc x) naming breaks the stacking naming scheme so they appear separately. As for The Wall the tracks must be missing the embedded disc number so they get mixed in UI eventhough they are in separate disc x folders.

No, just want to make sure it is a naming scheme issue on why @renecd is getting different results with the two different naming schemes. I would expect multi-disc/cds to be grouped and displayed as one album. That is where users that want a true folder view would/may disagree, wanting folders for each disc. The only problem here is that the ordering is wrong. Maybe this could be fixed by updating the mp3 tags by hand, but I have a lot of albums like this and it would take a lot of time to do. Is there a simpler way? In other cases, like the Pink Floyd Discovery Box set where you have I think 13 albums (one of which is The Wall, in itself a double album). I suppose I'd still prefer both being able to see them as the box set they are with all the albums, as well as the albums themselves. But I'm not sure. Does that make sense? Most music tagging software can do this rather quickly. Since the info is coming for embedded tags, that is the only way to fix unless you modify the disc/cd naming like */The Wall (disc 1)/* vs */disk 1/*.
renecd 4 Posted October 14, 2020 Author Posted October 14, 2020 Ok, by running Picard on the Roger Waters The Wall it actually ended up as one album in Emby. The Pink Floyd The Wall is still showing as two albums though. The "Part of set" are set correctly for both Wall versions. After renaming the albums under the Pink Floyd The Wall to just "Disk 1" and "Disk 2" it shows as it should. Thanks for the help! 1
