There is a minor (toggle) bug but actually it was already working. What's the symptom?

I hope you are using emby options and not Kodi stock Favorites?

I noticed that the remote control options no longer appear in the Emby server dashboard when playing content via Kodi For Kodi. Is this intended? Or can those remote controls be added back?

Your are the second user reporting this issue, currently I have no clue why. Are you using native mode? Does it never show up?

I'm using add-on mode with the latest experimental version. I have the option to send messages to the client, but the play and pause button are missing. As far as I can tell, this only occurs when playing with Emby for Kodi (the remote properly displays for other clients, including web client, my Android phone, and Embycon)

ok, I have no problem and not sure how to design a test case without any pattern.

Are you using Vlan, VPN, different subnet... anything?

None of the above, just a basic home lan setup.

Let me try a database reset and report back. Maybe one of the plugin updates broke something for me somewhere.

I did a database reset, and I still do not see the remote controls (specifically, the play, pause, stop buttons). Again, this is in add-on mode on a basic home lan setup.

Please update to latest beta. Should be 6.1.9.

The logs doesn't indicate any errors, how do you play new content? Via nodes or via regular browsing lists? Is it synced content or dynamic?

Please also check if your box is running out of memory (Ram).

I am running Emby server on Windows. I have confirmed that I have a firewall exception for it.

I am running Kodi on a Fire TV stick (4k). 

Some new info: While I see the option to send messages to the Kodi client, when I type it and hit enter, the message does not display! So that's interesting. I've confirmed again that when I stream to other clients (e.g., my Android phone) all the remote controls appear and work properly in Emby server dashboard.

This means the websocket connection is not established. You will also not receive any realtime (progress/library) updates. Almost sure, this is a network issue. I assume something is blocking the traffic. Fire TV is Wlan, right? Maybe the Wlan router is blocking something?

Do you mean my watch status will not sync to my Emby server? If so, that is still happening correctly. Also, all new media is properly syncing, as best I can tell.

It will, but only on Kodi restart/hibernate/close app etc. Not in realtime. Sending text msg uses the same mechanism as realtime updates.

Does it matter at all that I have fully functional remote controls when using Embycon? If there were a networking issue, wouldn't the controls be blocked there too?

EDIT: Also, I should mention that I think I do experience Kodi updates faster than upon restart/close app, etc. For example, it only seems to take a second or two for my watch status to update after I stop playing content.

Hm, I can confirm that txt message from emby to Kodi are not popping up. This works a while ago. But sadly I don't know which build I was using. 

It has definitely nothing to do with my network as I'm not changing anything, other than updating emby-next-gen and switching from addon to native mode and vise versa.

Emby-Server has of course a fixed IP which is also manually set in emby network settings. For bandwidth control network IPs are also set in the emby server settings. (For the main local network and for separated VPN access)

But for me the content in Kodi definitely updates in realtime. (With some seconds delay of course)

It must has been something with emby-next-gen or with the emby server update itself.

Good point, yes you are right. Can you please check the Kodi app permissions in Android as well. Actually, I think this is not the problem, but currently I'm running out of ideas.

Please send me a kodi.log after a fresh restart, wait a few minutes and send a txt msg. Maybe I find something.

 

EDIT:

I'll try improve the websocket conection handshake. Could be a collision with another app.

Latest beta is installed, error still occurs.
It´s a "standard" installation, content should be synced content (I think so, just installed the addon in "Addon"-Mode and then play the content through the "Normal" Kodi Video Lib. So playing it via regular browsing lists.

Dont think that box is running out of memory, but how can I check this (its the new Nvidia Shield TV pro).
