Music artwork scanning quirk

I'm trying to start using Emby for my music library as well as videos and I've run into weird behaviour when handling album artwork during a scan.

For a basic album - tracks all in one folder and a folder.jpg - Emby works very well adding the album art to each track.

If you add embedded album art to a track then Emby does exactly what I expect. For the album and all tracks without embedded art it sets the primary image to folder.jpg, but uses the embedded art for the track that has it. This is exactly how i'd expect, and like, Emby to behave. Folder.jpg takes priority on an album level, but embedded art takes priority on a track level.

If I add embedded art to a second track things go pear-shaped. Again all tracks without embedded art inherit folder.jpg. However, all tracks with embedded art are given the artwork from the first track with embedded art that Emby finds and their own embedded art is ignored.

This to me is completely wrong. Embedded art should never be applied to a track other than the one it's embedded in, especially when that track has it's own embedded art.

Is this something that is possible to fix?

Yes Emby should handle this better but in an ideal world you won't have different album art for different tracks of the same album.

That's only true for a rigid interpretation of what "an album" is, basically in pop terms.  Even then, it is perfectly logical for a compilation album to have each track with the art of the album it came from - it's what I'd expect.

Album like you used to purchase in the store.  It has 1 front cover with media inside.
Sure the digital world changes things slightly.  But what the OP described is more a bug.
