Is there any way to change the chapter image intervals to something other than 10 seconds? I was hoping for every 30 seconds.

Change the Thumbnail Images Interval setting in the Advanced settings for each library.

Apologies, didn't realise that you couldn't change it. Used to be an option, but I guess for performance, the other options were removed.

Thats a bummer, I figured 30 second intervals would be less strain than 10 seconds.

I think what you mean is the skip forward/back length. Many of our apps have configuration for that to allow you to control it.

Sorry should have been more clear, the Thumbnail Image intervals. I wanted to do 30 seconds or more to take up less space on my hard drive. 10 seconds seems like alot.

A bif is actually one screen shot pulled every x seconds.  It's not a full screen image but a "small" image used for the display block on screen.  Some clients don't handle some spacing like 30 seconds very well so after testing it was found that 10 seconds has both a good onscreen indication (pretty accurate) and seems to work well in all clients that support bif files..

There were a couple of community members that created scripts to create BIF file at different intervals, which Emby should be able to use.

Just keep in mind you will want to test the BIF generated files well in the apps/clients you use for Emby as 10 seconds was chosen for a reason.

any existing non 10sec interval bifs will work as luke has to support those who have bif's generated before the change to 10 only.

so 5 and 30 - think there was either a 15 or 20 sec interval as well

Roku in particular will have difficulty with any interval other than 10 seconds. It may cause playback to fail entirely in some cases.

When watching on my Samsung TV, the chapters still show the designated chapter points and not every 10 seconds. Where can I change it so its either 10 seconds or chapter marks?

@VikingFeed can you please describe your question in more detail? Chapters are only supposed to show chapters.

Hi.  The text you quoted is referring to the visual seeking thumbnails (and, specifically .bif files for Roku) which is different from chapter markers.

@Luke

Is there to change the thumbnail interval to another value than 10 seconds ,cause I don't have a Roku.

So Is there a value to change in a .xml file or so? or in the database, cause this feature is pretty cool to have but, god !, it takes a lot of place.

I mostly use the WebPlayer, the Android and AndroidTV App and Amazon FireTV.

I can check compatibility for you...

If you have to produce an update to have this feature, you can add a warning when you select another time interval like "Caution ! This time interval souldn't work well with Roku, xxxx, xxxx", does it worth it ?

Many thanks for your answer.
