External subtitles naming convention for Hearing-impaired/CC/SDH

Given the presence of the English tag right before it, this is something that can be worked out and improved. 

But if it's just .hi without a language before it, then the hi will be interpreted as the language.

Thanks for the clarification in this thread. I understand that .sdh is the recommended suffix for subtitles for the deaf or hard of hearing, and that .hi is ambiguous because hi is also the ISO 639-1 language code for Hindi.

However, I'm seeing this issue with Dutch subtitles generated by Bazarr. My Emby Server runs on Unraid (Linux) in Docker. A file named movie.nl.hi.srt is displayed as Hindi (nl) in Emby, even though its contents are Dutch.

Based on the explanation in this thread, I would have expected Emby to interpret .nl.hi.srt as Dutch hearing-impaired subtitles, just as movie.en.hi.srt should be interpreted as English hearing-impaired subtitles.

Is this a known limitation or bug, or is .nl.hi.srt not expected to work in the same way?

Hi, currently .hi is not supported for hearing impaired at all, but yes there is room for improvement there when it is preceded by a language tag.
