moshmont 8 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I decided to try converting a .strm file in one of my libraries. I chose to have it put the results into the original directory. I followed as its progress on the dashboard as it went through the process of downloading, converting, and transferring. But there was no new file in the directory with the .strm file and I can't see it anywhere. Now when I go to that library and movie in the web viewer, even though all the original files are there (.strm, .nfo, .srt), when I click on it, it brings up a blank screen. Also, the ... menu for that movie doesn't come up. I've rescanned the libraries and restarted the server and rebooted the computer, but it's still the same. Also, when I try to select that movie, as I say it brings up a blank screen, but then the EmbyServer process starts eating up both CPU and memory. It goes to around 100% of both (16GB memory) before I finally have to restart the server. I've attached the log file for when I try getting into the movie. If you search for tt3224458, that is the code in the .strm file for the movie that is messed up. embyserver-63737594715.txt
Luke 42085 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Hi, what time did you try to use the convert feature with this? Was there an ffmpeg conversion log?
moshmont 8 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 Hey Luke, I was wrong, the mkv file did get created, I was looking in the wrong directory. But, the movie still won't play. I did find the log for the conversion, it's attached. I've also attached a pic of what is in that directory. ffmpeg-directstream-2150aa3c-d2db-4bac-9979-ddbcc6030eff_1.txt
moshmont 8 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) Well, it turns out that if I let it go for about 5 minutes it finally brings up the page for the movie where I can play it. I click on play from beginning and the wheel spins for a long time, another 3 to 4 minutes and the movies finally starts. But all this time, Emby is using about 80% memory and 60% CPU. I then restarted the server, but then there was 2 instances of EmbyServer. I restarted the server again and now there is one instance and CPU and memory usage is back to normal. moshmont 8 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 If I remove the .strm file, this still happens, but if I remove the MKV file everything works normally, so it appears to be something about the MKV file. But if I just double click the MKV file and run it in another app, it starts up and plays just fine.
moshmont 8 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 Oh well, now, if I copy all the files back into the directory everything works perfectly. It can see both the MKV file and the .strm file and it comes right up. I have no idea why it was behaving the way it was.
