Separate Recordings folder

Recommended Posts

I am using Kodi on libreelec with EmbyCon as a client. On my server I would like emby pointed to my recordings folder for TVheadend. TVH is not integrated with emby in any other way.

The only way this works reliably is choosing home videos but then there's no fanart. So all I am after is a selection for media type of something similar to how home videos works, but with fanart.

Are your recordings both TV shows and movies or just one of them? And if both are they co-mingled?

How do you want them separated from the other media? I thought you wanted these to show up a specific way in the UI.

Emby can use TVH as an m3u tuner (IPTV). Live TV, recording and scheduling, the guide work the same way as natively supported tuners, about 99% of it.

Yeah I realize Emby can do iptv but I need kodi as a front end. Nothing from Emby's pvr shows in embycon.

They could be movies or tv shows but I don't need emby to care about that, since I plop them all in the same folder within their own subfolders. So as they displayed in home videos mode was perfectly fine. If I wanted to I could have TVheadend output them into respective tvshows and tvmovies folders but I don't need them separated for now. But if required then it can happen.

I'd rethink the whole Kodi on libreelec myself as it just makes things overcomplicated. An android TV device like a MiBox allows you to run once of the best Emby apps. You could run Kodi on it as well if you must but also has apps that fit nearly every need.

The level of development that TVheadend has and the level of familiarity my family has with kodi makes a change not likely. Even lower end android boxes run so much faster on libreelec. But the other reason I like libreelec is that it run awesome on an older laptop. I've got it running on an i3 and it's miles ahead in speed compared to the few androids I have tested. A used laptop with a screen broken is almost free.

I am currently using the home videos option for viewing the recordings and I just noticed perhaps the comskip function is not working. The edl files are there however kodi seems to ignore them.

Also I should say that considering the software doesn't work the way it was said to work, I think this should be considered a bug when mixed content folders show up in widgets for the main libraries.

Hi, Can you show a screen shot of what you're referring to please?

I think maybe the OP is talking about the suggestion rows?

@Luke is correct.  The libraries would remain separate, but things could still be included in Latest, Next Up, etc.

This is referencing the problem. I don't have screen shots. I'm running in home videos mode now so the problem doesn't happen. As BAIGainTI says it shows up in the widgets for movies and tv shows, they do not remain separate when choosing mixed content. That's why I thought it would be cleanest to have another folder designation that would remain isolated.

I have decided to bite the bullet and add my recordings directly into my main library.

This has simplified everything and seems to work well now that I was able to easily seperate my recordings into tvshows and tvmovies.

My only problem now is that I believe I falsly assumed my comskip would work through EmbyCon in kodi. But I am unable to get them to work.

Since Kodi already supports them I thought they would work. Is there anything that can get them working?

I appreciate all the help everyone has given.

Just wanted to update on how I left off on my saga.

I have my client machine connect to my server via VPN now. So that everything now looks like it's local to Emby and Kodi.

I had to downgrade back to leia libreelec to have vpn manager work. So decided to switch from EmbyCon to Emby for Kodi, since it wasn't available for matrix I had not tried it in a long time. Everything seems to be working very well now.

I have yet to get the comskip functioning properly but that now has nothing to do with Emby.

There are still credential issues with the Beta windows server though. I had already mapped all four share paths within Kodi so that it would have the username password. However when Emby for Kodi began scanning it could not access the files. I had to adjust the network alias in Emby to include the credentials right in the path. Then everything started working.

Thanks!
