moshmont 8 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Is it possible for Emby to download and add subtitles to libraries that are made up of .strm files? I see it does add .nfo files but I can't see any indication that subtitles are added and they aren't available when watching the movies. Do subtitles have to be embedded by the provider for .strm files?
moshmont 8 Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 (edited) Thanks! That is great! But how do I do it? I see the "downloading subtitles" process running each day but I don't see any subtitles for anything. I've set up the Open Subtitles account and the Subtitles configuration in Emby. How do I tell if subtitles have been added to a .strm movie? Is an additional file added, like the .nfo file? Edit: @LukeI was able to go out to opensubtitles.org and manually download a srt file and add it to the movie directory (had to change the name to match the .strm filename I think) and it works. Any ideas as to why Emby is not doing this? Edited October 2, 2020 by moshmont
moshmont 8 Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 (edited) I think I may have found the reason. I had "Require a hash match" selected. I guess that is the default? Is there a way to force the start of the "download subtitles" process? Will starting a scan do that? Edit: So far this change hasn't produced any subtitles. How can I tell if the subtitle process has run? Edited October 2, 2020 by moshmont Updated info

moshmont 8 Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 I am seeing .srt files showing up now. So what is the rate limit? Is it a fixed number of subtitles downloaded per day? Is it different if you are a VIP member?

Google Open subtitles free limit Quote Open subtitles download limit For 1000 subtitles per 24 hours - system literally counts, if in past 24 hours you downloaded 1000 subtitles, and if yes, it will not give you any more subtitles Google Open subtitles vip download limit Quote 1000 subtitles VIP member Higher download limits - 1000 subtitles/24 hours - useful when using programs such as media centers (but no abusing!)
