frk1337 4 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) Is there an ETA on AV1 support for the iOS and tvOS apps? I have started to test-encode some classic movies (LotR, Harry Potter) to AV1-10bit since it's quite more space efficient than HEVC (and open-source, which is prefered). 1080p/10bit encodes play fine with Infuse6 on my iPhone 11 Pro and my iPad Pro 11" but emby is not allowing direct streaming the video. frk1337 4 Posted September 27, 2020 Author Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) It tries to transcode the video, which I have disabled. Server is Version 4.6.0.1 beta iOS app is the latest stable from the app store Or do you mean Infuse? I guess they use dav1d to decode it using SW. iPhone gets warm but plays without frame drops. Luke 42077 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 @frk1337 the next update to our iOS and Apple TV apps will have built-in support for av1. Actually for iOS it will be two updates from now because we already have one in apple review. Thanks. 3
