mojopagoda 0 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) I have Emby Server 4.5.0.50 running on windows 10 pro. Android TV paid app on SONY BRAVIA - it works okay. But iphone and ipad both with ios14.1 - cannot access server on my own LAN. This used to work. I have not changed anything myself. I have been through McAfee help desk to reinstall McAfee firewall (etc) and when Mcafee was completely removed, still Emby could not be accessed. I have reinstalled Mcafee personal firewall, added embyserver as allowed app, given Port 8096 access. On ipad and iphone, if I try to access the localhost IP (reported by embyserver), i get a "you are not connected" error. Ipad app shows the embyserver as an option, but "Connection Failure" error if click on it. Same thing if I manually add server details. This also happens if I just use app.emby.media inside a browser. (I have removed Emby iphone and ipad apps.) I have tried Emby Connect, using correct credentials (all refreshed) and same issue - it's like the server doesn't exist. I am completely stumped. I paid for the iphone / ipad app so would really like to be using it! Thanks Edited September 27, 2020 by mojopagoda additional info
Luke 42085 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Hi, does your emby server dashboard display the correct local ip address for your server machine?
mojopagoda 0 Posted September 27, 2020 Author Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) hi... My emby serv dashboard shows 192.168.137.1:8096 - which is what I use inside the ipad app, also it works OK on browser of the windows pro machine (where the server is, so that's not surprising) but not working if using browser on ipad. Is that what you mean by "correct" ? I checked using ipconfig, and same address. Also note that the Android app cannot access server now either, and cannot find any servers. mojopagoda 0 Posted September 27, 2020 Author Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) Hi... given our timezone differences, I was still trying to fix this for the last few hours. I eventually gave up because nothing worked and so I deleted everything (ios apps, emby server, etc) and reset the wifi router and downloaded and installed emby server again. Re-created all my libraries etc. Anyway, this seems to have completely fixed the problem: my ipad can access emby server. (Shame I had to re-do libraries but better than zero access!). Hopefully this is useful information for others. Unfortunately this does not identify what the problem was. I suspect firewall but can't prove it. Edited September 27, 2020 by mojopagoda
