With ISP supplied routers/switches/ap's - definitely.

@rbjtech

Can you elaborate on this? I always figured if a router has a strong enough signal that's all that matters to get good functionality.

I think this is getting a bit confusing.
To begin with, for a 1GB + network, the cable comes first, it should preferably be cat-6 to avoid those losses that you say you have in speed. Especially if you have a 1GB fiber network with your ISP.
Forget using or sharing your internet through your computer with Wi-FI. The wi-fi in any home should be used for your mobile phone, tablet or some smart home device. For everything else, and especially if you are demanding, use wiring, whether you like it or not, that is the route to take.

Take your device access from your ISP and connect it directly to a very good router or switch, make sure you have something good, a 1GB switch may have 6 ports, but may not be able to hold 1GB per port at the same time .

I ask: where is your modem or device from your ISP? in the garage, basement? Where?
Where in the house is your computer / server and your TV?
After answering that, I can tell you what to do.
